I can’t help. Never been. Start a separate thread for visibility and I bet you’ll get good input.

I've got the opportunity to attend a conference in Sun Valley, ID mid March of next year. How is Sun Valley for beginners? I'd be bringing the wife and kids if it worked out.

There are two mountains at Sun Valley: Dollar and Bald. Dollar is the beginner mountain and beginners should be comfortable there.

Note: I haven’t been to Sun Valley but a ski buddy of mine grew up there.

An article in the Denver Post states that A-Basin and Aspen Highlands are interested in reopening if possible. Breckenridge doesn’t seem interesting despite a solid month remaining on their calendar.

The Basin isn’t reopening. When they laid off their staff most of them left the county, id be shocked if they could round up the staff to reopen.

Epic Pass announced their season pass refunds... ahem... I mean credits. 20% credit applied to next years pass (up to 80% based on usage).

Local pass: $729 x 20% off is $584. Assuming a $100/day rate using a SWAF ticket, that’s about a 6 day break even or about 3 days using walk up rates. I plan on getting Ikon next year, but combing this with Epic school kids pass make this a tough one to pass up.

Yeah I was going to go IKON next year but I may stay with Epic another year. It’s a $200 cost savings to stay with Epic this year rather than switch.

I’ll restate my previous post. I’m getting Ikon. To get Epic for me and my kids for less than $600 might be too good to leave on the table.

I’m getting Ikon again this coming season for my son and I. We love Steamboat and the Utah resorts on the pass. Plus they are offering the ability to move your season pass from this coming season to the 21/22 season until December 15, which is nice in case the Covid 19 pops back up again in the fall/winter.

Spent last weekend camping and skiing in the Gros Ventre Wilderness. Long approach with heavy packs was worth it for the skiing! We scored great snow, and perfect weather. 10 runs off 5 different peaks.

You can see our turns on the peaks behind our camp. Didn't see another soul all weekend. Kept it very socially distant.

Can’t be too great. It actually snowed a good amount up there yesterday. I got caught in it in my way back from Moab.

But, the mountains haven’t had a good snow or even any snow at all in about a month. Can’t be too great.

Doing some planning for 20-21. Went to Steamboat last year. I've done Park City and Lake Louise(I was already there for work) before. I preferred Steamboat to Park City. PC was too big.

Early in the process but I'm considering Snowmass and Telluride in addition to going back to Steamboat.

I stick mainly to green-blues. My kids are more blue-black. So I need varied terrain. Like a good base village. Night life isn't a concern, just good food and shopping options for the wife.

Any advice?

If you want a great experience go to Whistler. Colorado is great, we love Tahoe (Northstar village) and Utah is awesome too. But Whistler is a totally different experience. We are going back this year. Some great deals right now.

Sounds like y’all are looking for Breckenridge. It meets all your criteria.

Whistler is the best place I've skied, but is huge like Park City.

I'm leaning to Keystone next year. With a family of 5, it's the best value I can find. Anyone have any opinions on Keystone as far as quality and price? Other suggestions are welcome.

I really enjoy Keystone. Its got a lot of terrain and if you go to the back mountain its rarely crowded. Also it isn't as windy as Breckenridge but gets the same snow.
