Not sure what type of "shop" but it seems most people who work in tech have androids.

Unless by shop you mean an AT&T store.

If you are really concerned you can go with something like GrapheneOS. There are also other options that aren't so involved but still go another step towards protecting privacy. CalyxOS is another one.

That said, the Android hardware, meaning the phone itself, is FARRR superior to anything that Apple has put out... Samsung phones are fricking beautiful.

He wont be able to. Even the most diehard Apple fans understand it's not as customizable as Android.

Negative...my S21 does not have SD slot, but does thankfully have 256GB of storage.

Apple has zero interest in "figuring this out."

This is not a technical issue. It's a closed/walled garden issue.

Having android people having different "colors" in iMessage, and downgrading any videos they share, is all part of the plan.

You mean they line up and buy a phone from one company, year after year, without looking at any alternatives?

Got it.

Dumb-arse.

If you're truly concerned about privacy and security, go ahead and buy a Pixel and install GrapheneOS. Otherwise, the difference isn't all that much.

I really have no interest in sending or receiving video, so this doesn't affect me.

I put this on the feet of the carriers, they gave up on upgrading SMS and just let Google and Apple do their own thing. Apple has nothing to gain by joining in RCS with Google. Can't say I blame them from a business stand point.

Honestly this is more a problem of old people doing old people things. Kids use other apps for messaging between themselves, I see this issue being less a factor as time goes on in someone's decision on buying a phone.

It was out in my neighborhood two days ago, hadn't been out of the house since then. The exit for Nickajack Dam had it two days ago though, the firework store gas station.

1 tank is generally enough to get there & back but if we plan on doing anything while in the city we're gonna need to top off at some point this weekend.

The only reason I'd switch is messaging. I love android but almost everyone I know has an iPhone and I hate not being able to send gifs unless it's a tiny file size.

Kate emphasized your message.

That's what my Pixel tells me. SMH.

I originally wanted Android for the customization. After a couple of years with this Pixel, I don't care about that anymore. What's keeping me from switching back is the stupid cost of iPhones and my memories of having to type in my Gmail account manually all the time, because iPhone wouldn't autofill it.
