Samsung’s smartphone recall crisis has deepened after South Korean media said the tech giant had suspended production of its troubled Galaxy Note 7 model amid reports that replacement devices had caught fire.

Citing an unnamed source at a Samsung supplier, the news agency Yonhap said the company on Monday decided to halt production of the smartphone, one of the most advanced and expensive products of its kind on the market.
The unprecedented halt in production is another blow to Samsung, which last month announced the global recall of at least 2.5m Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to faulty batteries that caused some of the phones to emit smoke or catch fire.

Welp Samsung, it was fun while it lasted.
Google timed the Pixel perfectly to step in and fill that void.

Apple's next marketing campaign:
"The revolutionary IPhone 7: Dual Camera, next-gen graphics, wireless EarPods, won't blow up while checking Facebook! Buy one today!"

Apple actually buys many of the components that go into iPhones from Samsung. Good thing they don't buy their batteries from them

It's amazing how Samsung stays in business. Even my BlackBerry was better.

My S5 was crashing, freezing, and dropping phone calls about 2 months after I bought it.

I see a lot of people writing about bad experiences with Samsung. I don't doubt them in the least, but mine really has been fine for 3 years now. Maybe I'm just lucky.
I transitioned from Blackberry to a Note 3 in 2013. Still works fine, except the battery doesn't hold a charge long. Otherwise, not many glitches. No big delays or other issues. And even though I don't use the pen a whole lot, I do use it and it makes me mildly prefer to stay with the Note line. Almost everything else seems to be a subtle variation of the same thing (Snapdragon 8xx, 3-4 GB RAM (maybe 6), 32/64GB interal HD, etc.) I understand some brands are more reliable, but really, none of the other phones move me enough to want to switch.
I almost feel inclined to just spring for a new battery and see how long my current phone will last instead of upgrading to something else, since my plan to upgrade to the Note 7 isn't going to happen at this point.

I've had a note 2 and note 4, each for about two years. It was time to upgrade the 4 so I waited till the 7 came out. No probs with it but I was nervous about charging it at night so I brought it back to ATT. Got an s7 edge, which has almost identical hardware and performance specs. It's been a few weeks and they told me I could bring it back for another 7 but I think I'm just gonna stay with this one for awhile.

Saw an article earlier that referenced the Pixel being a Verizon exclusive sucks for people looking to exchange the Note 7 for another premium phone who don't have Verizon. That would've been killer if it was on all carriers. Those Notes would've turned into Pixel/Pixel XL

Just fortifies why I buy LG phones that allow for easy battery replacement by the user. If you think brands other than Samsung are immune to battery problems, think again.

loving my galaxy s7 edge. much faster than my iphone 6s but may have to switch back if more cases (2 so far) happen with it
