She will be using it for school and some mid-level gaming.

This Lenovo Slim 7i 16" Intel Evo is at Costco right now for $899.00.

Seems to be a good bang for the buck.

Thoughts?

Personally I wouldn't buy lenovo and would look at options from Dell, Asus, MSI

That's definitely a good deal and Lenovo laptops are great.

Practically every FAANG company uses Lenovo products, specifically the X-1 carbon. Lenovo makes very solid products.

I pulled the trigger.

It checks all the boxes for her:

Fast processor
32 GB of RAM
Touch screen
Nice display
Decent graphics card
Enough USB ports
1 TB SSD drive

Costco Deal

Been looking at one for my son.. same situation.

The one feature that is no-compromise, must have that's not on your list....

lighted keyboard

My understanding is that the keyboard is backlit...

I saw it in a review, I believe.

I just checked the specs and it says "backlit keyboard".

You can get a blazing fast M-chip Mac Air for $100.00 more than he paid for a Lenovo.

Awesome! I've been pretty amazed at how much I've used that feature over the years. And when I haven't had it, how much a pain in the rear it was...

Great coincidence you started this thread. My son's crashed last night. I looked this one up and decided to get it for him. He is setting it up as I type.

My daughter set hers up last night. Her only complaint so far is that the keyboard is off center. Due to the number pad on the right side, the body of the keyboard (and the tracking pad) is shifted to the left. I told her she'll get used to it.

if she's likes math and numbers she might grow to love it.

My Core i7 Lenovo 17" laptop touchscreen developed an ugly brown bleed across the screen after a few years of gentle use.

The machine was used at home with no rough handling prior to that.

So I won't buy Lenovo again.

I've had a number of Lenovos - both personal and for work and have been pleased with them.

It is very similar to the one my son had so he is used to it. His was about 5 years old.

Buy used 16GB RAM with upgradeable chassis. Depending on the slots you can update to 32GB cheap.
