Just a heads up for those of you leaving YouTube TV over the price increase

The other streaming platforms are not good. Sling offers no local channels. Directv stream has no app available. You must purchase a streaming device directly from them.
We’re really close in terms of hassle/price to cable being the best option

Sling has a way for local channels. We use Tablo for that, anyway.

Not anymore they don’t. They tell you on their website to buy an antenna

How do I watch local channels on Sling TV? Access to local channels like FOX, ABC and NBC can cost hundreds of dollars every year if they were included in your Sling TV subscription. However, you may very well be able to get local channels for free with an Over-the-Air (OTA) antenna connected to your TV. Looking to figure out which markets get local channel access? Click here!

Tell that to the Dtv Stream apps that I have been using for a couple of years now. No other devices necessary. My Roku tv, Sony tv, Fire Sticks and mobile devices all have the app.
Bitch about the price of Dtv Stream all you want because that is very much a legit gripe, but no other devices needed to get their content.

that is not true. DirecTV has an app for AppleTV, Roku, etc.

Well, that's just not true. I have one on multiple tvs and my phone

YTTV is still probably the best streaming service provider, but I canceled because I just wasn't using it enough.
Broadcast television is going the way of the dinosaurs. Between Netflix, Amazon, Pluto, HBO Max; I have plenty of content. Almost too much TBH.
If there's something local, I have an antenna.

Hulu sucks, if i didn't have a hot chick i occasionally see mooching off mine, i would have cancelled. YoutubeTV is much better, and still cheaper.

We have the directTV thing and it is an app on the Roku TVs. Seems to work fine. The navigation is a little slow.

I like fubo much more. It has mlb. The ability to channel up and down also makes me like the interface more

There used to be no app for Chromecast w/Google TV/Android TV, but they rolled one out towards the end of last year.

OP might have a Google/Chrome OS TV. Those don't carry DirectTV Stream apps. But yea, available on all other app stores.

So... They don't include locals

This is unequivocally not true.
ETA: Just ignore. I should have read the thread. Apologies.

They don't include all but so in fact include some without an antenna. I have my local FOX without an antenna. Other markets have some of the others.

One poster said "sling has a way for locals". Another poster said "not anymore". I replied that you get locals on sling the same way it's always been done, via antenna and airtv which integrates the OTA channels into the sling guide. The "not anymore" reply was not accurate, and I corrected it. Does that clear it up?

Spend a few bucks at Walmart for an antenna. Problem solved.
BONUS: You can then still get locals when the your internet is out.
