The wife (no pics) and I both have G6 phones and are looking to upgrade to new droid phones (VZ service). Board recs?

i haven't heard them referred to as 'droids' in forver.
i have a oneplus8t (which is starting to get long in the tooth) but i've loved it. before that i was nexus 4, 5, 6, pixel, pixel2...
i jumped a couple years ago to oneplus because i was getting a little sick of google locking shite down like casting.
seemed like the pixels were getting nanny-stated to death.

I have a pixel but just busted out my OnePlus 7T for my father in law to use because he broke his. The one plus feels like higher quality then my pixel 6 pro. Maybe check out the nothing phone. Looks pretty cool.

I just got the pixel 7a and love it so far. But I got it for free. If I was going to pay for one it probably would be the zenphone 10, but I like smaller phones

Do NOT get a Pixel 6a. Total trash. I finally got rid of it yesterday after five months of frustration. Bluetooth would only work 50% of the time and would not connect to my car at all though my last two phones had no problems at all. The Google home app wouldn't work most of the time yet it worked perfectly on my iPad, figure that one out. Lastly, I could only answer about 50% of the calls I received. The phone would not respond to tapping the answer button. I would have to wait until the call ended then call the caller back. Verizon essentially told me "too bad, call Google". That phone is garbage.
I have owned multiple Android phones in the past and liked some of them. I loved the Galaxy S7. I went back to Apple this time but would be open to Android in the future. Not a Pixel, however. Good luck.

I tried to warn people about the Pixel 6, because it was an entirely new platform. It's always going to be flakey. The 7 is what the 6 should have been.
Don't be an early adopter with tech. It's not usually a good place to be.
The Pixel 7 is a fine phone. The Samsungs are generally good.
I recommend the mid-range and if you get a phone that works for you, keep it until you absolutely need to upgrade.
Personally, I've been using an iphone 11 for going on 4 years now, and it hasn't given me a moment's problem. Still works like the day I bought it. Perfectly. Whereas, every android phone I've had in the past has had some issue. Usually, could be alleviated with a different piece of software, or workaround - but they are noticeably inferior products overall.

MKBHD put out a glowing review of the Zenphone 10.
YouTube
Phones I'd consider for myself if I were buying right now:
Galaxy S23 Ultra
Pixel 7 Pro
Nothing Phone 2
ASUS ROG 7
OnePlus 11
Sony Xperia 1 Mark 5 (too expensive and niche, but the door is open for sony to take market share in the $700 - $1000 range)

Pixel 7 Pro. Best phone since my OG Razor (which my wife literally sent through a wash cycle, dried it out, and it worked). I like that the Pixel is bloatware free.

shades of my star-tac. that phone was fine even if it dropped to the bottom of the pool. just pop the battery off and let it dry overnight and good to go.
ahh, the good ol' days of b&w LCD displays.

I picked up the pixel fold. So far so good. I switched to Samsung for about 3 months and went back to Google. Love that software

I'd like to try Oneplus 11 but it's not compatible on Xfinity Mobile. Stuck with Google, Samsung, or Apple. I'm thinking of trying Samsung S23 Ultra.

Save my money just go with S22+ for now.

My OnePlus technically isn't supported/compatible with my carrier (spectrum mobile) but it works just fine as spectrum runs off Verizon's network. I just popped in the sim and it worked.
Only thing is no WiFi calling for some reason.
