Escort Redline - Run it with the XR settings.
Escort Redline XR
If you have a powered mirror, get a hardwire kit and tap off of it with a mirror mount. Works great!

Combine waze with the radar detector

Yes they are legal, and I've run a few. Always loved my V1 better than anything else. Doesn't have all of the fancy GPS crap that new ones do, but IDGAF, I don't use it in New Orleans, just on the highway.

Just download the Waze app and be done with it.

I love my V1. Saves me all of the time.

I have a V1, and it has been awesome when I go on long trips. I also use Waze.

Radenso XP
And I am a former Valentine 1 owner (over 20 years). V1 is great, but it's too chatty.
A balance is what is needed, which is why I recommend the Radenso XP. The creators of this radar detector are very active in the radar detector forums and solicit feedback from its readers (and users).
The XP includes lifetime updates for free along with red light and speed camera updates, again for free.

does it have arrows that show the location of a threat? thats what separates the v1 from the others for me.

No and that certainly is an advantage that goes to the V1. Not even the Escort's new arrow system can match it.
But when you factor in an "all-in-one" radar detector that doesn't need to rely on an outside app (YaV1), it's an above average radar detector.

Arrows win every time. They've been winning for 20 years. Still need to get mine updated so I can keep it quiet with big trucks and cruise control on cars
