Thinking hard about cutting the cord. Wife and I do watch and record a lot of tv but YouTube has most of the channels we watch regularly plus locals and sports which is big to me. The dvr feature is a plus. Currently paying $140/month for cox with 2 boxes and mid tier package.

It could potentially lag with fire sticks. It may not, but you may need to upgrade that.

Some shows that are available on demand will not allow you to skip the commercials even if you record them with the "DVR"

Or that was how it was the last time I used Youtube TV

It's a great service so far but about a month after I pulled the trigger they got rid of Fox Sports Southwest so I will have to find a different way to watch Rangers games if/when the season starts.

Only of you're watching the on demand version. Got to go to recorded shows and it's no problem

It’s awesome. Same or better experience vs traditional cable and significantly cheaper. But check to see if your market still has the regional sports networks if that’s important to you. They dropped all of the regional fox sports networks and YES earlier this year after a contract dispute , then added most of them back in, but not all.

It seems like they added a lot of them back in but just not in all markets. For example I think Fox Sports Southwest is available to some customers in the DFW area but I no longer get it here in North Louisiana.

You'll find after a week or so that it's better than cable/satellite

YTTV has has a great UI. It's fast and easy to navigate, where as the AT&T TV Now UI is outsourced junk that is slow to load and not intuitive.

We stuck with AT&T TV Now because my wife was bummed out about YTTV missing some channels. I believe YTTV has since added some of those channels (like HGTV and TLC) so maybe that's no longer a valid complaint.

Never had that issue. If a show I recorded was also available on-demand, it would let me choose which option I wanted to watch. And the recorded version always allowed me to skip past the ads.

I wouldn't. 2 years ago cutting the cord was worth it, now it really isn't. YouTube tv started at $35 then jumped to $40 and now jumped to $50. Factor in a really good internet plan because your streaming now, using a lot of internet, you'll pay at least $60 with Cox. $110 from $140 isn't really much of a savings plus the inevitable will happen and YouTube will raise the price again. I would just look into resigning a package with cox and lower your bill.

We switched to youtube tv (firestick) about 6 months ago from C Spire. Quality is better. It’s a lot cheaper. Only negative to me is changing channels which is done by going through the guide as opposed to channel up, channel down, or typing in a number. I’ve gotten use to it though so not a big deal

Slick, you would be correct if you didn't already have internet.
I was paying $200 for DTV and internet.
Now $110 for YTV and internet.
Haven't missed a beat. Actually like YTV better in some ways once I got used to the different menu.
Plus double bonus is being able to use YTV anywhere with my Roku and hot spot.

If you haven't already started the trial and noticed this, anytime you record a show, it "records" every episode new and old. It doesn't differentiate when recording. I guess this could be a good thing but it seems to clutter up your recordings for that show. In any event, its not a major problem but something to keep in mind.
