Would it not make sense for Landon Donovan to take a top role in US Soccer?

Top role as in suit and tie job, not manager.

Seems like a perfect time with a home soil WC on the horizon.

Landon should absolutely take a top job for his country, I’m sure El Tri will hire him

If we’re going to bring in a USMNT legend, there is only one clear choice.

Is Wondo available?

Nope, love Landon as a player, but he's way too "worried about feelings" to have a true position of power.

Exactly. We have had former players running things and we see how well they've done. No thanks.

No, dude couldn’t even make the squad for the 2014 World Cup. Has no qualifications for being in any important role.

If he has not coached/managed before he will struggle to understand all the nuances. There is a big threshold between going from player to in charge of USMNT. And he risks ruining his rep if he fails.

He's a coach right now, but again, his style doesn't fit big time international soccer. I wouldn't be opposed to him getting the U-17, U-20 or Olympic coaching jobs at some point down the line.

I was hot and cold about LD during his career, became a solid supporter after his two spells at Everton and seeing how toffee supporters embraced him.

That said, have we not seen what happens, now, when everyone involved are friends, former team mates, and travel-ball moms? Sorry I am, but we need completely new leadership, and it's sad that I think LD needs to be kept away from 'high command" in Chicago as do ALL the others involved in leadership AND in the Berhalter (GGG and brother)--Reyna family affair.

Landon is a woke arse bitch. He would set up the USMNT on some ESG program, replace American flags with pride progress flags and have the white players denounce racism and the patriarchy before every game. Landon is the last person who should be given power.
