They are overrated but they came in 4th in 2006 and actually made the quarters in Qatar even with CR7 mostly being ineffective. They will probably be better in 2030 without the aging albatross up front.
Most of the posters here weren’t alive in 2006. I forgot about the Mooslim WC. One time to not get grouped or R16’d since 2010. Impressive I guess.

Now I didn’t say miracles can’t happen… just we need one to get through Spain, France, Argentina B2B2B. That’s what we Americans do though. Don’t tell me the odds

So Portugal finishing 2nd to Colombia in their group made them have to play Spain early. Got it I guess.
Not really sure but believe the bracket is pre-filled
For ex-
Group a winner
Vs
Group d runner up
Group a runner up
Vs
Group e 3rd place
Etc. Etc.

the only gauranteed future opponent right now is Spain. Morocco has a really good chance of beating France.
Argentina has to get past either Norway or England - not a cakewalk either way.
But no matter the path, no team is safe. Every team in this tournament has shown weaknesses and had at least one struggle game.
The USMNT is more than capable of defeating anybody left. Will they do it? don't know. But they can do it.

All but one USA playing singing the National Anthem. Definitely different than football players here, especially in the NFL. Good for them.

This wc has made me want to watch soccer again. Dad and I were La Liga/Serie A binge watchers. I've only been tuning into ucl matches for the past few yrs

Same. I used to watch EPL, UCL and all the Us friendlies.
I’ll be trying to pick that back up.

Love that the stadium just says "FIELD" because of advertising nonsense
