What's everyone's opinion of 4 quarter football?

With the hydration breaks, that's basically what it is. If one of these stadiums plays Harry Caray singing "Take me out to the Ballgame" during the 2nd half break....

Was about to post on this.
I was up for giving it a chance, but already this early on, I’m really hating it. For many reasons, but mainly it breaks up the natural flow of the game, and as an observer, I appreciated being immersed in the tactical changes mid game, than a glorified timeout.

Is it just me or so the ad breaks seem shorter today than they did yesterday? Wonder if the outrage got to the networks.

It ruins one of the good things about soccer - no commercial breaks
I also think it's completely forced in these West Coast and domed stadia where it's not even hot. Makes sense in Qatar, but rewards teams with lesser conditioning in many situations here.

I think the 2nd half commercial break went long in the Mexico game, so the ref had to delay the re-start of the game and FIFA told Fox to get with it.

You say that, but...
Did you hear Derek Rae during the Swiss-Qatar match saying that the 80 degree Bay Area weather, while wonderful for us Americans, was too much for the Swiss to handle without the breaks?
If San Francisco weather is too hot for these teams, then God help the ones that have to play in Kansas City, which is under a tornado warning tonight by the way.

Sick to death of hearing the commentators say "hydration break".

It’s terrible and I hate it.
And it’s here to stay because they get to sell more commercials. frick FIFA.

I heard the words scorching and blistering. I googled the San Francisco weather. 65 degrees lol.
I’m all for the water breaks but my lens is different than most fans since I work in sports. With the insane training/game loads these guys partake in throughout the season, plus the euros not being acclimated to heat, it’s the safest thing to do for the players.
Ultimately keeping players safe and healthy makes for better matches so I would argue the breaks are good for the game but also realize I’m in the minority here.

The fact that they still refuse to stop the clock pisses me off.
As a guy that has played soccer all through high school, stoppage time is the most retarded thing.
“What if we say a half is 45 mins, but schedule a 3 min break, but leave the clock running and automatically add that to the end”
What’s the fricking point

hate it. It's a fricking money grab so that FIFA can have a commercial break during the game. 75 Degree in Boston last night, but hey, let's have a hydration break.

I wouldn't mind it as much if it were only 30-45 seconds, just like a little break for an injury. Let the team trainers sprint out on the field, get the players some hydration, then play on. This 2-4 minute shite can completely ruin the flow of a game for either team.

“Hydration” breaks are a stupid excuse for the US to inject more advertisements in game. It’s despicable and not at all surprising
