That was a chore to watch. Glad we won, though.

Screw Marsch. Every time he loses an angel gets its wings. He’s the worst.

A lot more low energy than I hoped for.

Freeman has right back locked down. Did you know his dad played in the nfl?

If someone would have told you that the USMNT would have gone 4-0 during the break and would score 12 goals while giving up only 2 while playing a ton of young players, there's not a one of us that would have given a watery shite about a sloppy match in those 4.

Obviously the result is fine, just hoped to carry the momentum forward from the Mexico game, especially after Pochettino said that's what he really wanted from the players. That message didn't seem to land.
I should clarify that the striker, defenders and goalie were doing their job. The mid and wingers weren't doing a whole lot.

I think the perceived lack of momentum from Mexico into tonight in that Canada had no interest in actually playing soccer.
They just wanted to rough us up in a friendly.

For sure. Good CONCACAF experience for the young players regardless. Going to face lot more rough stuff when we play the South American teams.

Our friendlies with Canada are always the most boring matches you could imagine.

So we went 4-0 this window
Mexico opened with two draws, a blowout loss to us, then a 2-0 loss to Chile. Suck a dick Rafa Marquez. What a way to start your tenure.

Rafa and Jesse Marsch have to be the two least likable coaches that Canada and Mexico could possibly have.

Chile was a heavy underdog yesterday too. STCDB Rafa!

Couldn’t post yesterday. Tore my knee all to hell (again) and probably looking at surgery around the new year.
Watched finally… Here are a couple notes I had:
GK: Schwake actually looked really damn good for the most part. One shaky span in the second half of about 3 minutes, but he held very well for himself with the ball at his feet and distributed decently for what Canada was trying to do.
CB:
- Richards was dynamite as always.
- Trusty wasn’t as indecisive as he was against Mexico, but he still sucks at passing into the midfield in general. He also relies on his size too much and invites pressure for both himself and the GK. That HAS to improve.
- Campbell impresses me. I love his ability to pass to, through, and over the midfield. Canada made it hard to do last night, but he looked great to me.
- Pierre almost has me convinced he should start. The press didn’t faze him, and he is absolutely insurmountable in size. Great feet for his frame, too.
LB/RB: May have been meds, but I thought we swapped at times between 3 and 4 in the back. Only real notes I have are that Freeman absolutely has to be on the field regardless of who is on that right side with him, and Robinson is really looking spastic at times. He seems to get the yips pretty easily when it comes to passing. Confident until the slightest thing goes wrong, then gets anxious and tries to do to much.
MF: I don’t like Berhalter as anything other than a box-to-box guy, and that’s not even anything bad. He is REALLY fricking good in that role. I think last night having him and Adams in a double-pivot really killed our ability to pass in the middle of the park. Tillman played back there a bit too, as did Gio, and those are the times we made better progress getting out of our own half. SIDE NOTE: Raines is really growing on me. Love his effort, and he reads the game really damn well. Always pops up in the right place at an unexpected time for the opponent.
F/ST: The soccer gods are smiling on us, fellas!
- Ellis is who I am most impressed with. His decision-making can improve, but he is silky smooth on the ball and passes very well. Very physical as well, and holds up reliably. His off-ball movement and defensive work is high quality, which is critical in our system.
- Hallski is a great playmaker, otherwise he wouldn’t have scored at all this window. He has improvement to make in fitness, and thus defensive work. That will come quickly. Not as smooth on the ball, but his raw talent is absurd. He kind of has that trait that I mentioned about Raines.
The rest of the boys are great talents, but need work/experience before they are ready. Loved the effort I saw from Cole Campbell, but he is not a mature player just yet. Mehmeti and Gozo are close, too. Just would like to see more urgency from them.

Also, agree 100% with basically everything you wrote there. I do not like the Berhalter Adams pairing, it kills our ball progression. Put Tillman there and start Pulisic, Reyna/McKennie, and Sullivan as the attacking mids when we have our full strength side.

Thanks, man. OATS is a booger from what I have heard. Been through an ACL before, and also had a full posterolateral corner reconstruction done years later.
Same knee as this injury for both. Now looking at MCL and meniscus, possible PCL, and issues with patellar tracking.
Anyone got Elon’s number? Gonna need a bionic leg…
Back to Berhalter/Adams, I may pour acid in my eyes if I have to watch that again. It was horrifying how bad that was. Inadvertent soccer terrorism.
It’s wild to me that I think Sullivan is already a fringe starter for this squad. I think he and Dest are about to be in a competition to see who is the best RM/RW on this roster.
