This has been a shambolic performance. From coming out on the back foot at getting broken down, to Freese's howler. Hopefully we can pull two goals out but I doubt it. Pulisic, Dest, and Freeman have all played terribly.

Exactly. I'm not buying the whole best athlete thing goes to football as an excuse.
We just don't have enough institutional knowledge and skill of the game just yet. It will eventually come but it's going to take a LONG time.

We can all thank the USSF for keeping Gregg way longer than he should have been and totally fricking us over when we are hosting the damn World Cup. This was supposed to be the year where all our best players in probably our best generation ever were in their prime. Squandered.

my take on it is that the freak athlete 5'7" kids in america are probably the guys you hear about being the best high school football/basketball player you've ever seen but they were 5'7" and no one has ever heard of them.
imagine if every single one of those kids played soccer their whole life. that's what happens in every other country that is competitive.
the best soccer player in american history is probably some 5'8" kid from valdosta, ga that could dunk since middle schoool and has never touched a soccer ball
