this Balogun deal is bs. Should he have gotten a red card? That's certainly debatable and I can see both arguments. But the rule for suspension is the rule. Did Trump call Infantino and influence the decision? I hope not. If Putin had done that in 2018 or a sheik in Qatar done that in 2022 to get a player to play against the US we would all be up in arms. Politics needs to stay out of football - period. Unfortunately with FIFA that sounds comical. We can beat Belgium without Flo and if we win now and Balogun scores a crucial goal it will be tainted.

your post is BS. No one thinks that should have been a red card. I spoke to fans of alot of different allegiances at the WC game in Dallas and watched alot of talking heads...no one thinks it was worthy of a red.

The fact that none of the talking heads and Euro centric fans and reporters seem to care about bad calls on the field but only about serving additional punishments for bad calls.

No issues with cheating and bad calls and inconsistency on the field (none of which has gone for the U.S. this tourney) but we get a red card on a terrible call and the only thing that matters is we should continue to be punished.

well this unpopular because it is fricking stupid.

FIFA has rules in place for using VAR to determine a red card, very clear rules and they were violated. So only a retard could say it’s debatable if he should have gotten one. FIFA caused this by 1. Not having any common sense to put in an appeal process 2. Having an incompetent corrupt ref running VAR 3 that ref being from a piece of shite communist country that hates America so he shouldn’t be involved in anything. 4. Taking days to make the proper ruling via an already established process.

So yes your opinion is unpopular because it’s not rooted in facts, it’s emotional crying because the bad orange man.

frick off traitor

Fifa is terrible. deal with it. there's 4 other guys that are supposed to be suspended in this tournament from red cards that aren't.

Funny that the controversy is over FIFA following rules they have in place for suspending red cards as they see fit and not the fact that the red card was a result of them not following the rules they have in place for issuance of red cards under VAR

It’s absurd. People care more about serving the full sentence for a bad call as opposed to the bad call itself.

Same group that lionizes Maradona intentionally cheating for the Hand of God. An actual in game cheating. But is getting a player back after a bad call is ruining the game.

Your post is BS.

1) FIFA didn't follow its own rules in the review to begin with.

2) It wasn't a red card offense to begin with.

3) Worse actions have been committed by other players in the tournament and either wasn't reviewed or no red cards were given.

4) The carve out for Balogun has already been used for this tournament by Portugal (ironically another UEFA team).

5) Trump did nothing to influence any decision. He called and asked the rules and asked them to look at it. They did and an independent panel cleared Balogun under article 27.

6) If as a US citizen, you find yourself supporting a European country, turn in your passport and go be an ex-pat.

In all of the corrupt things in FIFA’s history a Trump call would be at the very bottom of corrupt things.

If Flo scores the winning goal, he needs a statue built for him.

Your OP can be summed up as “I’m an American hating twat waffle.”

Some of the US soccer fans are the biggest bitches in sports I've ever seen. Are you this weak in general or is it just because you hate Trump so much? That red card was a total travesty and it getting overturned is 100% the right decision.

Through this whole ordeal the only country that got fricked was....the US, for having to play 35 minutes down a man against Bosnia.

Honestly Trump just needs to shut the frick up, originally this was just about FIFA chosing favorites like they do with Messi and Ronaldo. Now it's shifted to the US using its political power to influence the decision which is a much worse look

I don't think Flo should have got a red card and his suspension was bullshite. But my God Trump can't help but make himself the center of attention regardless if he had any hand in it
