CBS sports

Basically the men just won 13 million for advancing, and since both teams now split the prizes evenly the women get a payday.

Fair considering the men will get $27.15 when the women advance to the knockout stage next year

Is that split between just the players, or the coaches as well?

USSF are fricking virtue signaling retards. I seriously doubt Brazil, Argentina, France, Portugal or Spain have similar arrangements with their women's teams.

Props to the women I guess. They parlayed the feelings of a bunch of emotional dipshits and bolstered their otherwise nonsensical argument

I love that people get mad about the women's team getting paid like it is coming out of their pocket. The men will get paid when the women win so who cares

Assuming the men get knocked out next game and the women win their World Cup, won't the men end up making more in the end?

What about "this payment is more than what the women earned the past 2 WCs" makes your statement logical?

quote:

In 2015, the USWNT earned $2 million for winning the World Cup, which had a total prize pool of $15 million. Four years later, the USWNT won the 2019 World Cup and received $4 million of the $30 million prize pool.

Yay, so IF the women win, the men will get half of a much smaller pool of money. VICTORY!

Either you read the very short article, and came to this conclusion b/c you're a commie idiot, or you didn't read the very short article, and made idiotic assumptions thinking this isn't a big deal.

Stop taking money from people and giving it to people that don't deserve it.

Just so you are aware of the huge difference between men and women's world cups.
The Mens world cup winner will win $42M. The Womens world cup winner won $4M. I wonder how many other countries are splitting their winnings with their womens team?

To put that in context, the total prize money for the 2022 World Cup has been set at $440 million, with the winner getting $42 million. The USMNT will be guaranteed to take home at least $13 million at this stage, which means that the USWNT will get $6.5 million before U.S. Soccer gets its 10% cut, which is more than it received for winning the last two World Cups combined.

Gianni Infantino says FIFA received 100x less money in TV broadcast rights for the women's World Cup compared to the men. The women wanting anywhere near equal pay to the men is absolutely ludicrous.

I for one am proud of the fact that I've never watched a single women's world cup game in my 29 year old life.

Gonna be easier in 2023 when it's in Australia and having the time difference.

that's because other countries aren't paying as much for the women's world cup compared to the men's

in the US, Canada, and now Europe what they're paying may well be equal

Yep. Which is why i dont have a huge issue with it. Will be hilarious to hear the women bitching when it ends up costing them more than they make from the men's split

Mens round of 16 $13MM. Half of which is $6.5MM

Women's World Cup champion $4MM. Half of which is $2MM.

You are telling me in both of your opinions that $2MM > $6.5MM?!?

The Women could win the next three world cups and the Men would have still lost money from this one. If they beat the Dutch Saturday we are now talking about a full generation of the Men not qualifying and the Women winning every World Cup before it would break even. The USSF and the idiots who think like you two don't even realize how absolutely one sided the previous deal was, much less how idiotic the current one is.
