Something crazy but hear me out. Cash in the Virgil chips and be prepared to have matip and ibou as the cb pairing. Use the money on the midfield and start searching for the next center back

Matip and Ibou are way too injury prone to rely on. Think you have to keep VVD.

Agreed, our CBs have way too many injury problems across the board to take the chance on shipping one out.

This

We also have really missed Jota’s finishing. He was a terror in the middle up top and so reliable.

Cash in the Virgil chip

I don’t think those are many at the current moment. He’s not the same player he was before the injury, it even close. Everyone sees it.

I don’t think he’s necessarily a liability at this point, he just isn’t the best defender in the world anymore in which he could cover for so many of our mistakes and deficiencies.

If we had a competent midfield that would take some of the pressure off of him, we would be just fine with a cb pairing of Virgil and Matip/Konate

VVD gonna be sidelined for a few weeks due to injury. These guys have been playing with little rest.

Yeah. Best way to look at it is, who would you prefer over him? I can’t think of very many. As long as that’s the case, he’s a vital part of the team and you keep him as long as possible.

pretty much spot on... our terrible midfield is putting insane amounts of pressure on our CB's, specifically, to perform at a level they are just not able to perform at

I think Klopp's biggest fault is his stubborness/loyalty... I think his system also favors younger legs, especially in the midfield.. Most of these guys have just accumulated a lot of hard miles on their legs over the past 4-5 years. Fab is the one that puzzles me a bit, because he isn't THAT old.

Given the season we are just coming off of, I can understand how no one expected this drastic of a fall off in the summer.. But given how shite the league is we really have the opportunity to salvage top 4 by making some moves ASAP in this window.

We really need at least 2 new mids this window (and another 2 in the summer), but it would be asinine not to bring at least 1..

Also.. As much as I'd love Bellingham.. I'd spread that £ around 2-3 midfielders. JB alone will not fix our issues!

What kills me is this was the year to beat City to the title... especially after all those seasons of ~ 90 pts and. losing out...

Cannot emphasize this enough. Both goals yesterday were brain dead mistakes by the MF.

Sadly, I think the future will be playing for 3rd while MC and Newcastle duke it out for 1 and 2.

I would look for HEAVY turnover this summer
Hope Klopp is not part of it

I’d kill for third this year.

We look absolutely dreadful. I know we’re banged up and playing an in form side…but Lord. I’ll keep beating the dead horse, FSG have got to make some signings if they want to contend for UCL. Lucky to finish top 10 in our current form.
