He has wanted this move since he signed his last contract. He signed a four year deal knowing this would be the time he wanted to leave.

I guess there’s still time to change his mind but I have long suspected this was a done deal. There are a lot of reasons to want Madrid; better weather, bigger city, better chances to win, no longer dealing with the English media.
