CP was absolutely terrible and gave the ball away more than anyone. However and people are rightfully hammering Ream and Freese because they managed to play worse.
Ream let a smaller Belgium player bitch him, he actually moved himself away from the slow rolling Freese frick up. It doesn’t let Freese off as he should never see another minute or even call up with the national team, he should remain in the mls for good.
The Belgium game was a giant pile of shite and CP, Detsy, Ream and Freese are all being raked over the coals for it.

That set piece probably should have been reviewed through VAR. The Belgium player put both hands on Ream's shoulders to push Ream down and himself up. I'm not upset that it wasn't reviewed, but I also think it should have been.
It's on par with a defender pulling the attacker to the ground by the waist that was reviewed in a previous game.
Ream is getting alot of shite thrown his way for that goal, and it seems like people aren't noticing why the shorter Belgian player got so much higher than he did.

You have shite for brains when it comes to knowledge of the game, respectfully. It’s evident you never played or coached at a high level.

I'm just shocked that Pulisic is getting so much flak instead of Freese
Going back in time, it's like asking why Donovan took so much heat but Bornstein didn't. Everyone knew Bornstein sucked and was going to suck, but he was the only real LB option at the time since Beasley was still playing in the midfield.

Pulisic didn't lose the game. Freese did.
When Freese did the dumbest mistake ever, the game was still being contested. After that, it was over.
How is Pulisic responsible for that mistake?
I don't understand the attacks being sent his way. He wasn't responsible for the loss. At the time of that 3rd goal, they were putting pressure on the Belgian defense. If that goal doesn't happen, then the team doesn't completely deflate and give up.
They were playing inspired coming out of halftime. Freese put a stop that, not Pulisic.

He’s creeping towards disappointment territory.
I don’t want to say he’s the most decorated player in USMNT history, but for his clubs he’s surely accomplished more in Europe than anyone. He lived up to the hype he had at 17 moving to Dortmund.
Is it fair to be annoyed at him for failing in the last two WC’s sure, but he’s far from a disappointment.

Pulisic and Dest were responsible for holding possession, distributing the ball, creating space, and feeding Balogun. They don't play keeper and their roles in the defense are minimal. They shat the bed at their roles, the same way Freese did his. But Freese isn't supposed to be good at his position, and they are supposed to be good at their positions. If you fail to understand this, no one can help you.

Everyone sucked. Dest had his worst game of his USMNT career. So did Ream and Freese. No one was effective. I find it hard to direct my anger at any one player when the whole team was so bad.

Captain glass is getting a rightful spot light because people expect more out of him. It also doesn’t help him that he is seen as soft because he is often injured and his personality is aloof.
If Freese and Ream hadn’t put all time shite fest out there they would be talked about less, because we know they aren’t good.

Hopefully he figures out what he needs to mentally and stays healthy, because they are at their best when he is in form.

Pulisic is getting shite on because he was basically a ghost after the first half vs Paraguay and this is after sitting out the Gold Cup crying about how he was resting up for the World Cup. All that to be available for half the games
and then in a knockout game, our best player looks like a fish out of the water and that trickles down to the rest of the team. If your most talented player is spooked, it ain’t a good sign.

The team around him needs to do something different in his training to try to stem these injuries.
He would probably have about half the give aways and less injuries if he stopped trying to draw fouls

Remember when Jerry Rice, after spraining his ankle 6 days prior to the Super Bowl, played AND won MVP? This guy doesn’t have what it takes. Move on team USA. You will be better for it in the long run!

Pulisic get crapped on because he is supposed to be the US’s best player. I just don’t think he is - that’s not to say he isn’t great. He rightfully is playing and starting for AC Milan; however, he is not an elite international player. For the first time the USMT has had multiple players who receive significant playing time in Europe if not in starting roles. That’s what makes the Belgian game hurt so bad. We looked like a team from 15 yrs ago: slow to the ball, not aggressive, lost almost every 50:50 ball, and the list goes on and on.
Players like Pulisic are the ones who are supposed to keep that from happening. I said in the in game thread that moment looked to big for them, and I stand by that. I put that solely in players like Pulisic, McKennie, and a few others for not getting the team prepared mentally. Until we can field a team with the talent we had this past World Cup and more mentally strong, we will not break through. And if the players don’t like, toughen up.

This is illogical. The US has multiple players for the first time getting significant playing time when Belgium has 100% of their players plus likely their entire bench doing the same. Belgium had more reputable players on the bench than the US had starting.
The US was relying on the underdog story with hope, Belgium had proven winning experience.
I really don't understand why we are all up in arms over this and making it more than it is.
ETA: The issue with Pulisic is he's not a centerpiece player. He never will be. He can be and has been a fantastic winger/ 2nd forward. He's not a #9, he's not a true #10, he's not a dominant center back. He's a flashy winger. He wasn't on his game, and neither was most of the rest of the team.

It’s not illogical to think the team could be competitive. I did not expect this team to win, but we didn’t belong in the field with Belgium last week. That is the problem

I said this in the game thread, we all held our breath the entire tournament waiting for our suspect defense and GK to bite us in the arse. Unfortunately it happened in the same game.
