I prefer Thank God I’m a Country Boy. But I’ll never complain about Country Roads.

Let’s suspend reality for just one moment and pretend John Denver’s country roads anthem isn’t the greatest song ever…let’s pretend it didn’t exist…what would be a new option?

Would you rather Sweet Home Alabama?

based on the crowd reaction as the team was leaving the field, yes. Sweet Home Alabama>Country Roads>whatever is popular today

I went to 3 WC matches in ATL and they played it every match during hydration breaks. So it’s not unique to US matches. We’ve just taken to it but all the matches I’ve been to all fans were singing it. No matter what country

Mmmm...no it's not. It's about getting sent off to fight in a war you don't believe in.

I think it’s a well-liked and uncontroversial pick.

It has the “sing-along” factor. English soccer fans love Mr Brigjtside and Sweet Caroline. The Italian fans and players pretty much made Segen Nation Army a whole thing in Euro 2008. It was just supposed to be a one-off intro and became much more than that.

Also Pochetino seems to love this song

I wouldn't even think about other musicians for 1 second & would also recommend John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy."

Both are great songs with great vibes. The kind of thing you sing to celebrate a win (not a loss though cough Turkey cough). I do wonder if we could get a "tougher" song or something to sing right after the game before transitioning to Country Roads

In Liverpool, almost every single musician plays it during their set.
Similar to wagon wheel for a musician in Alabama.
I was pleasantly surprised how popular country roads is elsewhere, as I love the song.
