Why didnt the VAR official not call for a review of the more egregious studs tackle from behind by Messi?

Slow it down and clip out some stills for effect?

Its kind of sad isnt it?

We're accustomed to crooked reviews thanks to the SEC home office.

Not going to happen.

Everyone is rightfully pissed about the call. But made scoring the 2nd so much sweeter. That's soccer. The highs and lows in the 90 minutes can be unreal. It's why people keep coming back.

As an Arsenal and LSU fan, both fanbases have a conspiracy that the media hates them. Although the Arsenal one was more real this time around.

But still, people in Louisiana and people in London have the same feelings in different sports towards their treatment in the media.

but I don't consider what happened with the red to be part of some grand conspiracy against the US by FIFA.

Ya Im a little lost on why people think FIFA wouldn't want us to succeed in this tournament. 31 million people just watched the game last night in America, the most valuable television market in the world. They probably have their pants off just looking at those numbers getting excited about how much money they're gonna hold us up for next time advertising/tv rights come up for sale.

Its 100% in their best interest for us to go far.

It’s basically the same or similar to targeting.. sometimes it is the right call, sometimes it is complete bullshite.

Miss the rest of the game and maybe the 1st half of the next game..

only difference is playing short handed (which we survived) and then the whole next game (which totally sucks)

But they are very similar and both up to the officials.

No, not similar at all.

That's what LSU fans were told when our best defensive player got suspended for the Alabama game because of the weakest "targeting" penalty ever called

"That's the rule. Deal with it."

Does it suck? yea. Is it disastrous? no.

The team can overcome this one obstacle. It may turn into a blessing in disguise. With him being out, they may open up the offense with no single player to focus it on.

Foul in question by a player

Officials determine the outcome by consulting with a machine and other officials

The rules have a gray component and it isn’t ruled the same from one game to the next

If called, player misses the rest of the game and maybe part/all of the next

Yes, not similar at all.

Nope.

You really have no idea about soccer nor how the world cup works.

Does not matter. We are not beating Spain with or without Flo. If Pepi can’t score on Belgium’s soft back line, then we don’t deserve to beat them either. All he really has to do is hold it up and dish to Pulisic and Gio.

Targeting call on Devin White. Out of bounds interception by Patrick Peterson. There is always a higher authority controlling the game you think is objective. This info is put out so fans will accept the decision made (because its going to stand) and be "thankful" its only 1 game and not longer. Doesnt matter because we werent going any further anyway. (sorry Mike Eruzione)

The world does not want America to become really good at soccer.

We are currently on that path, with each generation surpassing the next, and we're a legit solid-good team currently.

FIFA doesn't benefit from higher ratings; FOX does. FIFA already got the bag from this WC, and the uptick in American viewers is peanuts compared to the world viewership #s. And they won't be able to upsell TV rights for US markets for non-US WCs.

So what do you think happens the next time FIFA wants to negotiate a TV deal with FOX? Those previous record high ratings won’t factor into that at all?
