Nothing was better than when he was showered by a UK comic with fake money during a FIFA damage control meeting scheduled to deal with the corruption as it was heading into the criminal realm.

It was years before I watched another NFL game after this call. I absolutely love football and it took me a long time to watch it again, lol. I’ll never watch another World Cup again if Balogun gets an extension of the suspension. I’m not expecting that to happen though. I don’t think with the Messi no call they would be that stupid.

That was one of the most egregious no calls in sports that I can remember in a long long time.

As you correctly pointed out. The red card automatically triggers a review. The article was clickbait and designed to get this kind of reaction. But my point still stands.

The review cant be punitive in only one direction. If they got it wrong there needs to be a systemic way to reverse the decision as well as adding onto the suspension.
If VAR is about getting things "right" lets have some follow through during the process so that the integrity of the game is the single and only priority.
As it stands the current system only benefits FIFA and its cabal.

I think it will hurt the growth of the sport for casual US fans if the suspension is extended. It won’t change anything for people who love it. Because of my kids love of the sport I’m probably between a casual fan and a die hard fan.

Outside of expanding, the already wide rift, between fans. clubs and national soccer federations and the international governing body of the sport.
Think the NCAA and potential rifts with the SEC and B1G.
UEFA members are no fans of FIFA either for many of the same reasons.

Payback for USAID slashing.

Do they want Americans to not care about soccer?
This is how you help ensure Americans don’t care about soccer.

Bold move fricking over the host Nation in the middle of the tournament...
While we are the main host country, FIFA would much rather Canada and Mexico to go further. They hate US soccer and look down on our programs, always have and always will, that will not change just because we’re hosting.

I don't know which has more conspiracy theorists: the Soccer board or the Poli-board

This is what happens when the officials are from a country we invaded.
We need to petition FIFA to exclude refs from those countries.

It’s because they know if soccer became the prominent sport in the U.S., we would dominated on every level. They are lucky football and baseball take the majority of the top athletes.

Baseball is declining.
Recent polling among younger Americans shows that soccer has overtaken baseball as the 3rd favorite sport behind football and basketball, with 10% saying soccer is their favorite sport compared to 9% picking baseball as their favorite.
Soccer is growing in America while baseball is declining.

Maybe it's because I'm a Saints fan, but I don't consider what happened with the red to be part of some grand conspiracy against the US by FIFA.
I've seen a real conspiracy against a team by the governing organization.
What happened last night was bullshite. But that's all it was.
Sabotaging the US is not in FIFA's best interest. We are the largest untapped market left in the world. Why would they collude to prevent gaining the market.
