Nothing hates soccer more than FIFA.

What a clown show.

Highly unlikely that happens. They probably have a protocol where they have to review serious foul play red cards no matter what and this headline is just ragebait.

To be fair if you read the article he’s just stating that under the rules an extended suspension is a possibility. There’s no inside information as far as what the result will be.

This looks like fake news. FIFA reviews all red cards for the purpose of determining if a longer suspension is warranted, like with the player who broke the leg of the Canada player. He got 5 games. This one won't get a longer suspension, but it also likely won't get overturned because FIFA will then have to admit that they made a huge mistake.

True, but if the US could move some money from promoting LGBTQ+ Sesame Street episodes in Iraq to FIFA review committee bank accounts, they may be more open to admitting to an “oopsies, our bad” instead of an outright mistake

The review is automatic. The point still stands about the gross misconduct regarding the whole incident.

The VAR assistant was Venezuelan. Im not saying there is something more nefarious than incompetence but with the stills and slo motion images used against protocol...who knows. This is FIFA were talking about.

For the past 30 years of my life, I’ve followed us soccer (I’m 42).

For the past 20 years of my life, I’ve blamed us foreign policy for every rigged and biased ref concacaf throws our way.

The Venezuela dude prob hates us, for right or wrong.

In the match thread when they were reviewing I half jokingly said Flo would be suspended for 7 years. Looks like they may be considering it frick FIFA

Bold move fricking over the host Nation in the middle of the tournament...

The same nation that arrested 9 FIFA officials for prior corruption.

This is a FAFO situation.

The permanent North American headquarters for FIFA (soccer's international governing body) is located at 396 Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables, Florida, near Miami. Needs visitors. .

One overlooked aspect with the red card is that the Bosnia players were not outraged or immediately asking for any card after the incident. In fact their caption was consoling Flo after the red was issued.

They need to review the fact the VAR officials didn't follow proper protocols. That should void the suspension on its own.

Well, since he broke the rules AND he is from Venezuela, if FIFA had any balls they would recind the Red Card.
