Football's world governing body FIFA and the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), are set to deal with issues of death threats, racism and attempts to physically harm directed to members of the T&T football team at the ongoing CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.

Angry Mexican fans hurled racial slurs and threw bottles at the T&T players during a Group A encounter between T&T and Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA on Saturday. This situation was further exacerbated by a clash between Mexican winger Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano, goalkeeper Marvin Phillip and defender Alvin Jones at the end of the first half which resulted in Lozano being rushed to the hospital with a suspected injury to the head.

Eve, yesterday confirmed to Guardian Media Sports that because of death threats to him and his players- Phillip and Jones, there has been heightened police presence at the hotel where the team is currently based.

The T&T Football Association has since reacted to this development by writing to both FIFA and the CONCACAF and has since received a promise that something will be done about it soon, the coach said.

Any time you think an opposing American team’s fans have the worst fan base, remember that the Mexico national team exists.

They can only say this so many times before my eyes roll in the back of my head.

I mean frick, the fact that nothing happened to the fan base after two players got injured (including one of their own) from Mexican fans throwing shite onto the field is ridiculous.

For some reason shite like this never gets brought up during discussions of racism in the United States, and I have to wonder why.

Both, since their last offense was in a final and it can’t be punished.

I'll hold my breath for ESPN to report on this like they did England. Time for Mexican fans to be banned from matches.

How would CONCACAF even ban Mexican fans from the games held in the USA? Even taking away their "away" allotment wouldn't stop the USA Mexifans from buying tickets and getting in.

No general admission and only tickets from the opposing federation or recognized supporter groups.

i saw the other day Mexico is trying to get their 2 games with no fans to apply to 2 womens games
they argue its the federation being punished so they can distribute the ban as they see fit

Yep. Our own Alexi Lalas was front and center of it too. ESPN and other outlets followed with it.
