What is Flock?

Flock Group Inc., doing business as Flock Safety, is an American manufacturer and operator of security hardware and software, particularly automated license plate recognition (ALPR), video surveillance, and gunfire locator systems, and supporting software to integrate the data gathered by these technologies. Founded in 2017, Flock operates such systems under contract with law enforcement agencies, neighborhood associations, and private property owners. As of 2025, Flock says that it operates in over 5,000 communities across 49 US states, and perform over 20 billion scans of vehicles in the US every month. Flock Safety's network consists of cameras, image recognition, and machine learning, which share data with police departments.

There are approximately 113K Flock cameras across the US, including my city of Houston.

Deflock has a map and you can see where the cameras are in your city.

But JClem, what about safety? Think of the children!!!!!!111

10 GA Cops arrested for using flock camera for personal use

Milwaukee cop arrested after using flcok to follow 2 individuals

Feel free to add more.

Isn't America awesome? You have your money taken from you through threat of violance via taxation and that money is used to spy on you 24/7/365 without your consent.

What makes America great is the people can elect those who are willing to give us back our guns while getting rid of data centers and spy cameras. Hammer your reps and sens now, daily, regarding these issues.

I love the enthusiasm dawg but you know this is bullshite. We were sold down the river long ago and the current government is in bed with the AI Techbros that are pushing all this bullshite.

Do you unironically think we can vote our way out of this hellscape?

Sounds cute in theory, however lets be realistic buddy.

In Reality: Our elected officials will instead put on a giant televised production where they hoot and holler at each other using your tax dollars to not only take your guns but also put more spy cameras and data centers in place while simultaneously gaslighting you into oblivion that neither are happening; all while they getting rich through literal theft.

Pause. Do you unironically believe this is about muh criminials?

The government views all citizens as criminals.

There are millions of retarded laws just to get you in trouble and fined for any little bullshite.

Because the cops don’t need to keep tabs on me in order to solve crimes.

Considering the amount of crimes that have been solved because of cameras, yes I am fully in favor of them. It's really not that hard to just obey the laws while enjoying your day.

It’s funny watching dipshits on Reddit celebrate when flock cameras are destroyed/vandalized and then bitch and moan calling them “useless” when they don’t capture their car being broken into/stolen

Flock is almost certainly selling this data to insurance companies to jack up your insurance premiums.

Hell they are probably sharing with the government to build out a social credit type system.

There is so much bullshite going on in the background but keep your head in the sand dude.

I wish I could be so naive and blissfully ignorant in life again. Life was so simple then, I was just too ignorant to know it.

Haven't kept up with all the Flock stuff, but saw in the Houston news that a handful of them have been cut down by someone.

A question that may impact the use of cameras:

Is it illegal for me to put an 8ft long 2x4 in the 7ft long bed of my pick-up, and lower the tailgate?

Just wondering.
