No state income tax, no property tax for businesses, incentives to bring business here. Put the tax credits back in place for the movie business.

Lower corporate taxes making it attractive for the company to operate within the state lines. The company doesn’t care much if their employees have to pay in taxes.

Make it bad business for companies to not relocate. No reason offshore operation should be ran from Houston rather than NOLA other than tax.

Remove state income tax, establish a plan to audit/keep track of finances that are clearly being funneled elsewhere, remove all mandates making business/ tourism more attractive

Am I the current governor? I’d probably take one for the team (assuming I was just inhabiting his body) and maybe see if I could learn to fly off the top of the capitol

Otherwise I’d probably start with trying not to make the tax payers who still live here hate the state and want to move away.

Overhauling the education system and legalizing weed (tax revenue) would be high on my priority list.

I would work with local jurisdictions to bolster their law enforcement operations, and for certain zip codes, I would make it known to those mayors: you clean up the crime or I’m taking matters into my own hands.

I would end all Covid restrictions like Florida and Texas and let it be known to all people that Louisiana is going to let its citizens move on with their lives.

I would look at tax reform. We pay far too much in taxes and we get so damn little for it.

There are so many areas where we need a fighter, it’s hard to know where to start, but those would be my first stabs at it.

I completely overhaul the tax system, inventory tax in particular. The license system gets massively overhauled as well. On education, I put a heavier focus on literacy so that no student graduates 5th grade without being able to read at grade level. Studies and experiments in Mississippi have shown that a lack of literacy is the single biggest factor in students “checking out” in HS. They fall behind in middle school, cannot catch up, get discouraged, and become disruptive until they drop out.

Step 1: create business friendly tax structure

Step 2: overhaul regulatory/permitting environment to be more start-up friendly

Step 3: overhaul k-12 education to prioritize literacy and teach more relevant real world skills

Step 4: overhaul higher ed to reduce number of four year schools, increase two year and votech schools, foster public/private partnerships for more relevant job training, make TOPS solvent via increasing standards, and use resources more efficiently by having surviving universities specialize.

Step 5: smart infrastructure investment to remove transportation bottlenecks

Step 6: constitutional overhaul to decentralize power and spending from the governor’s office starting as soon as I leave office. One of the big problems with decentralizing power is that parish governments are so massively unequal in resources, that many simply won’t be able to provide the necessary services. My solution would be to significantly reduce the number of parishes by combining many rural parishes so that once combined they have enough resources to easily run their school systems and law enforcement without relying on state funds.

Legalize prostitution in any city with a casino. It will create more jobs and tax revenue. It’s the only way to save NOLA from self-imploding itself.

Corporate tax credits and incentives. Emphasis on public schools, police, and roads. The obvious no state income tax and 100% homestead.

Do you want jobs or higher incomes? If you want a good economy you attract industries and services that pay higher incomes but then again you'd need to invest more in education and that takes time and money (taxes) so instead the bad idea is to offer tax breaks to companies to bring jobs that are usually lower income jobs and the state stays the same.

Governor in Louisiana is powerful, but there are limitations. Louisiana needs decades of decent decisions in both the Governor's mansion and in the legislature. But here are my goals:

- Try to update the tax code to reduce and eventually eliminate the income tax burden on individuals. Cut back on inventory taxes, franchise taxes, and corporate taxes.

- Legalize and tax recreational Marijuana, which the revenue going towards combating opioid addition and treatment.

- Cut spending on bullshite pet projects by line item vetoing the shite out of all of them. The culture of these kind of projects being okay must come to an end. Every one of them I found would be published and ridiculed openly.

- Break up failing school districts...if that means temporary state intervention while we fire all the administrators and let charters take over, then so be it. This is primarily aimed at parishes with failing schools like Caddo, East Baton Rouge, St. Helena, Pointe Coupee, Orleans, Iberville, etc. Some of this is already being done. But we can't let tax dollars go towards failed schools and administrators anymore.

- Roll back and eventually ditch homestead exemption.

- Redirect every bit of money we can into highway and drainage infrastructure, especially around Baton Rouge, New Orleans and the Northshore. And I'd try to make headlines by starting with a few big projects so 'out of state' companies and potential residents take notice. Things like the new Lake Charles bridge and a new highway loop around BR would need to get off the ground ASAP.

- Consolidate some higher ed institutions - probably close Grambling and merge it with Southern BR, close down SUNO and SU-Shreveport. Try to use whatever we save to boost LSU, UL-M, Southern, and Tech.

- I have no idea how to do this, but we'd have to figure out how to get rid of these shitty judges and activist DA's in places like Orleans parish that are making our criminal justice system unfair. Not having consequences for crime is not fair to the public or the victims. This is increasing recidivism and increasing crime rates, and it is hurting economic development.

- Until we get the tax code changed, I'd offer whatever incentives we could to attract manufacturing jobs in the auto sector to the I-20 cities and CenLa; tech and research jobs to Baton Rouge, medical to New Orleans, and petrochemical to the river parishes, Lafayette, and Lake Charles.

Get rid of inventory and franchise taxes. Streamline the tax incentive system to be tied to job creation and job training (incentives are pretty useless if they're not tied to hiring and paying people). Impoving the education system with more accountablity on student's performance. Improve the education system by leting high school students take on internships, career training, and college credit classes instead of bs electives.

Clean house of all of the current leadership at all levels and start over with educated, honest citizens that want to rebuild, not politicians who are just here to take tax dollars for themselves.

Immediately put some sort of "must stay here 3 years" on TOPS or it has to be paid proportionately back. TOPS graduates are just leaving the state in droves.

I'd instantly lower sales tax, and demand that a new constitution be made that takes most of the power away from me and does not have taxes written into it.

I'd hire police and teachers at a higher rate, but get rid of all the just human garbage that's collected in those positions.
