Eliminate occupational licensing. Announce to the world that since Hong Kong has fallen, Louisiana will be the new free trade zone on the planet, and eliminate all the regulations and good ole boy protectionist rules that stop that from happening.

No one mentions lowering the auto insurance rates. Our rates should not be any higher than Mississippi's. I've talked with friends in New Jersey and the reasons they give for not wanting to come to Louisiana is our public education system. We have many well trained teachers here but the problem lies in the student body (some kids refuse to put forth the effort to learn). If I were gov. I would tell the elementary kids that if you can't read and do math on the 4th grade level but the time you finish 4th grade then I'm shipping your little arse out of state. This state has glorified being dumb for too long.

What do you mean by brought down?

because ive seen an argument about kids in louisiana moving to private with a voucher and their math and reading scores going down. So my question then is.. is it because they are getting bad grades simply for moving schools, or did their previous school completely fail them and just gave them the grades that weent earned?

A 2016 study found “strong and consistent evidence” that school voucher students in Louisiana attending private schools “performed significantly worse in math.”

Death penalty for nepotism in any and all government jobs.
Harsh mandatory penalties for any misuse of public funds, at all levels.

The biggest thing that could bring jobs and business is to battle the corruption. But as governor... not sure how much I can do since corruption takes place more often on the local level.

We already tried streamlining sales tax and that got voted down.

I think the state needs to pick a couple of industries and really focus on nurturing and supporting those. Target incentives to those industries.

If we had jobs... our college graduates would stay.

Other thing is I would dramatically cut state spending on K-12 education and cut state taxes by the same amount. Let local governments increase local taxes and take more control over their public school systems. The State Dept of Education should be nothing more than a few consultants to help local school districts when they need it.

Being serious, other than no state income tax what do you do?

What bills or legislation would you try to pass?

Nothing. Government passing legislation has never once improved the economy, brought in jobs, created job markets, or improved people’s quality of life.

It is the PROBLEM It’s not the answer to the problem. That would take a literal miracle in the voting populous to wake up with a lick of sense in their heads tomorrow, and kick their corrupt government to the curb, embrace the concept of smaller government, and thus entice new business and industry into the state. Them waking up in the morning to start another day of Louisiana politics as usual is what keeps people from showing any desire to relocate to the great Louisiana banana republic

I don't know why this is so hard. Just copy another state. But we can't seem to get that done.

Serious, meaningful school reform. Whether that’s teacher performance accountability, parent accountability, or school choice, we need to improve the public education performances.

We need a lot less regulation and a lot more money in the classroom. The number of district employees our district has who are simply there to fill out state and federal paperwork is absolutely absurd.

Our district has "teacher coaches" who spend just about zero percent of their time mentoring and working with teachers, and 100 percent of their time running reports to deal with mandates. It's insane.

Do we really need 50 states anymore?

Why don't states combine resources and work together

Pair up states and eliminate all the redundancies in state governments
Make the ARK LA TEX all one state combining all three states or something similar

True, but then we can cut the worthless unis out for such a small state. We have 28 4 year colleges for 170k students.

The average gpa at some of these is below a 3.0.

Never mandate anything. Especially masks.

Tell the authoritarian fed gov to get lost we run the show around here.

Encourage business by lowering taxes on them.

Encourage citizens by lowering taxes on them.

Spend less on social programs to make up for lower taxes.

Spend less period to make up for lower taxes.

Increase policing and training of police to reduce crime.

Enforce a work program for welfare recipients that remain.

I could go on but this current gov doesn't have the mental capacity to understand any of this.

Some type of branded, coordinated food based tour and hospitality program. Like the bourbon trail but for LA food.

Just popular vote deciding elections, and one massive federal government? What could go wrong?

The A+ school is no longer an A+ school - tons of students transferred to it and the testing scores went way down - so I’m guessing the previous schools failed at teaching or they have absolutely no help at home

Also, I used to work at a small private school that accepted the vouchers - most of the voucher kids were discipline problems that the other school tried to get rid of - that was difficult

1. Continue to encourage O&G jobs while incentivizing education that matters (STEM and vocational school. Require them to remain in state for 5 years if they take tax payer dollars. (Bye Bye TOPS)
2. Infrastructure Improvement
3. Anybody who wants to play games that prevent the people from maximizing their tax dollars goes on my shite list. Eliminating corruption goes a long ways towards bringing a better life and opportunity for our people here.

Get rid of old laws.

Get rid of all victimless laws.
Get rid of all taxes on income and property.
Get the government out of things the private industry can handle.
Greatly reduce the size of government.
End asset forfeiture as a state

Get the government out the way and people will succeed on their own.
