But but but I was told Younkin is proof that trump needs to be dumped and this model followed. He hasn’t even warmed the seat of the Governor’s chair and already proved he’s a rino. That’s the winning strategy everybody, lie to the base, gather their support, win and then stick a big fat fricking knife right in their back.

Glenn already proving he's a beta male

So you're saying all those posts on election night that were downvoted to death claiming Youngkin was nothing more than a deep state uniparty schmuck given his background with the Carlye Group were actually spot on?

I don't understand how folks ITT are ok with constitutional rights being trampled on as long as it done at the local level.

Not if you allow local school boards to dictate to parents.
I don’t think this is a slam dunk either way. There’s definitely something to be said for local control, but that’s not an absolute nor should it be. There’s also a big difference between a governor handing down a mandate that enables freedom and individual choice vs a governor handing down a mandate that restricts freedom and individual choice.

Agree 100% with gif but this is VA we are talking about here
Exactly. Did people expect him to take office in VA and go all Desantis on them?

He should. What point is getting elected if you’re not going to make any real changes? When the left gets power they use it, when the right gets it they just try to hold on to it.

Youngkin: I won't stop local governments that want to impose COVID mandates
He literally said this during the campaign and during the debates and still won.
Btw, Virginia has no Home Rule. It’s not like most states where counties have the ability to self-govern. Youngkin is basically saying nothing here as the counties will still need state approval for those mandates and Youngkin will not sign off.
He's still repealing the statewide mask mandate and damn near every other statewide covid restriction.

Virginia isn’t a lost cause despite what they want you to believe. Republicans have the Governor’s office and the state House. You save Virginia by going all DeSantis. You can only hold one term in a row in Virginia so it’s not like he has to worry about reelection. But I guarantee he would have incredible Republican support in that state if he went all DeSantis.

I agree with him. Tired of mandates? Disobey them or elect new city leaders. Quickest way to clean up the crap cities.

You think allowing local governments to force injections on people is ok?
No but I think it’s something that should be handled first at the local level by protesting peacefully, citizens in the localities contacting the local elected officials and respectfully telling them their opinions, attending public meetings where these policies are being discussed. If that doesn’t work then by the state legislature pacing laws to overrule the local governments. At the same time I support the people and/or the state government challenging them in court.
I don’t support the governor injecting himself with executive orders.

Allahpundit is a clown. Youngkin ran on reforming the education system in VA. He is also a former private equity guy. He’s a step above Romney so nobody was expecting the next Desantis. All he has to do to be successful is reform the education system & install conservative judges.

Yet folks will sit and ponder why so many agencies are openly targeting and attacking anyone or anything right-wing. It is Youngkin's job to protect the constitutional rights of his constituents. Not pass the buck on to allow local governments to mandate vax shots to conduct daily life.
By all means keep hanging onto the muh conservatism muh decentralization & muh principles while getting your arse handed to you in a fight that you refuse to engage in.

How is local governments forcing mandates allowing people to decide for themselves?
Allowing people to decide for themselves would actually be allowing people to decide for themselves whether they want a crappy medicine that doesn't provide immunity, not letting local governments dictate personal health decisions.

I’m not sure why any actual supporter of freedom and our system of government would have a problem with this.
You don't understand why a supporter of freedom would have a problem with local governments being allowed to force chemicals into people? I'm not sure you understand the meaning of freedom.

Looks like a lot of people in this thread only want small government and freedom as long as it’s the small government and freedom they agree with.
Where is the freedom in being forced to get a shot whether it's by local government, state government, federal government, or an employer?
It's cool if our rights are violated as long as it's done on a local level. No wonder the right keeps losing when half the people that are supposed to be on our side are ok with tyranny as long as it's from a business or city government.

This.
You can't bitch about democrat overreach then turn around and ask for Governor's to overrule local mandates.
Hell I think this is a great idea politically for the state. Let a purple city over-impose mandates while everywhere around them is open and watch that city start turning more red. Watch people and business start moving and you'll see a quick change in municipal politics.

His very first move to make while in office is to “investigate white supremacy”. I didn’t even think RINO’s play a game they fake!

well good. I'd rather him actually investigate claims of WS than have someone just screaming that everything is racist.
