But we all know that won't happen.

It's that simple. America is not as far right as a majority of this board thinks it is.

Most Republicans in this country are RINOs. Less than a majority of house districts are anywhere near MAGA. Look at how many MAGA candidates lost in 2022.

They know if they vote for someone like Jordan, they are done. They will lose in 2024. The Dems will win that seat.

Look at the districts represented by these 22 people. Not all districts are created equal.

The country isn’t moving anywhere.
It’s all games at this point.
I appreciate optimism as much as the next person, but I’m also a realist.

Correct.

Populism does not equal conservatism.

Need proof? How many people on this board criticized Trump for the deficit? For no entitlement reform? Nobody. Trump spent money just the drunken sailors before him and nobody said a word because "he owned the libs".

Thank you for stating that what appears obvious is indeed obvious.

Calling MAGA hard core conservative at this point is kind of funny...

I can understand an actual conservative voting for Trump (most of us have already), but cheerleading the shitting all over of the most productive conservative governor in the country and letting Trump off the hook for liberal/pro-establishment policies and actions, there's no understanding that.

List the ones in congress who ran on not implementing a budget and increased deficit spending.

Oh, I know it's not.

I think it's fairer to say that most don't even really know what "conservative" is. So many Americans are 1 or 2 issue voters.

Heck. 25 years ago, I'll bet you'd have found that 80% or more "conservatives" thought the FBI and our Intelligence Agencies should be supported almost by default.

A lot of "conservatives" are more accurately labeled, "anti Democrat". Of course, the same goes for a lot of liberals in reverse.

The subset of Americans who are ideologically conservative probably isn't any greater than 20%

Americans are a fat, lazy and largely apathetic people. That in itself does not bode well for self-reliance and personal responsibility. When you add the legions of poor minorities and illegal immigrants to that, we will never elect a true conservative ever again.

The simple reality is that 18 Republicans are from districts that Biden carried in 2020. 6 are in New York and 5 are in California. Like it or not, that's political reality. Successfully primary them with someone more to the right, or more aligned with Trump, and the Dems will pick those seats up, plain and simple.

You left out 'stupid.' People only associate with their level plus 1 and minus 1. The Bell Curve has 5 divisions of IQ. This board is mostly 4. The smart posters are 5 and the dumb posters are 3 (average and majority of people). The real morons at 1 and 2 aren't here because they don't like reading and writing. But they can vote.

How do we tell who is a GOPe? It can change in a minute. Say something mean against Trump and you are GOPe, praise him and you are MAGA again.
