LEGAL TENDER

Legal tender just means it’s good money, and only must be accepted to satisfy a debt. For transactional use, I don’t have to take shite from you.

Sounds like a racist act.
So now those "underprivileged" without a drivers license or credit card can't enjoy the national parks. WTF.

This make sense. A ranger station isn’t going to have a bunch of cash in it. It’s for practicality and safety. She sounds like she was looking to make this a problem.

I’m def not voting for you now.

This is a major issue that nobody especially under 30 wants to talk about. Once they outlaw cash your bank that is controlled by the government owns you. You have no control of your money. They can shut you down at any time if they don't like you. Check what happened to the protesters in Canada 2 years ago. The country shut down their bank accounts. The war on cash is real & U.S. citizens are not fighting back hard enough.

This is why I laugh at all the Civil War talk on here. If it came down to it the federal government would just freeze your bank accounts, credit cards, cut your power, water, cellphone service and internet off and you are screwed. Technology rules the world now not guns and ammo etc. I don’t care if you have an armory at your house you aren’t going to last long in 2024 with no internet, power, water, or credit cards or bank accounts etc.

That’s why you have your own water source.

she was told that the site, part of the U.S. National Park Service, could accept cards only, no cash

They’re discriminating against the unbanked population, which has a large correlation with lower income individuals and minorities.

Banks have to prove they don’t discriminate as part of their regulatory oversight. Pretty ironic that the federal government is doing it.

Not only that, there are places that won’t take cash payments BUT still want to charge that bullshite convenience fee for using a card.

Happened to me and a friend of mine. He ordered he and I a drink at a local establishment and went to pay cash and was told “we don’t accept cash, it’s card only”. He asked if they are still going to charge that card fee for using a card and was told yes, he politely informed the bartender that he (the bartender) had just bought a round for him and his coworker.

Some places are wanting card only BUT still want to charge that fee. that mess!

Federal government charging in federal dollars for admission to a national park not accepting actual federal dollars does seem odd.

Comparisons to private transactions are apples to oranges comparisons.

pay the entry fee to the Fort Pulaski National Monumen

Never mind the form of payment issue, I have a problem with this right here.

Charging a fee to go into a park that I, a taxpaying citizen, fricking own?

I use some Federal & State owned boat ramps that only accept cash. You write your name & info on an envelope, put the cash in the envelope, & drop it in a honor box secured by a small padlock.

The issue is they declined a LEGAL TENDER in the US with zero accountability.

The issue us that a US government entity refused cash. And that is freaking scary.
