Will JBE’s abortion bill signing hurt him in 2020?

Been thinking about this issue and a lot of prominent national Dems are basically wanting him out of the party, which will likely hurt with fundraising and having big names campaign for him..... but it could also help him with moderates and some republicans

So do you think it’s a net winner or loser for him?

Maybe it would've hurt him if there was another democrat in the field of challengers. But he's running against 2 republicans. Nobody that supports abortion and is mad at JBE for signing the bill is going to switch to voting R. And it probably helps him keep independent voters and some of the never-Vitter republicans that voted for him in 2015.

A great question.

On net, I think it is a positive. It might demotivate his supporters a little (less like to vote, to donate, to volunteer) but if they vote it will be for him. And now he gets to re-posture himself as a conservative democrat.

Never mind his fiscal record, he's pro-life! Pay no attention to those tax increases behind the curtain!

No. Only a small portion of the population- subhuman savages- truly believe it is acceptable or ok to murder a child simply because you don’t want to take responsibility for your choices and that women.

The rest that claim to hold that position don’t really hold that position, at heart. They adopt it because it’s the doctrine of their tribe or because they erroneously think a majority of other people believe it and they want to fit in and be accepted (and 20-year-old college guys whose balls haven’t dropped, yet, and who white knight hoping to be noticed for their virtue signaling by some random females).

This group is most of JBE’s base.

In reality, civilized, sane, educated, reasonable, and moral people do not believe it is acceptable to murder a child. This is most people in our society.

Subhuman savages are he only demographic that will not vote for JBE over his signing of a law preventing the murder of children in Louisiana. They are a small percentage of the population.

I'm not voting for him again. Rispone could do almost anything and he'd still get my vote.

If JBE is so pro-life, why is he taking money from national organizations that love abortion and do everything they can to advance supportive policy and lawsuits, not to mention fundraising with politicians who support infanticide like Ralph Northam?

Every percentage counts. The goal is keeping JBE below 50.1% to get it to a runoff and if we can freeze the abortion crowd to stay home, that hurts JBE more.

JBE's only chance to win is to win outright in the first round.

He's very likely to lose the runoff against the republican as the GOP will be united and the candidate will not have the baggage that Vitter had and there will be no RINO backstabbers helping JBE win.

Luckily for us, JBE owns F King lock, stock and barrel when he said a while back that he has no plans to remove him.

Now he's screwed on that whether he keeps him all the way or fires him in the end.

From a consistency standpoint, he's just being himself. He has been on record as being pro- life for most if not all of his career

They won’t vote for a republican but they may stay home and he likely loses a lot of national $$

I wish I could remember where I saw it, but there was an article over the weekend that interviewed a bunch of pro-choice / women's rights types.

Basically, they all said

1) They can "never forgive" JBE for signing the bill

2) They appreciate him for expanding medicaid and for trying to raise the min wage

3) They would likely support a more progressive candidate if one ran, but they know one will not be running

4) They won't stay home because they believe a GOP governor will try to rollback medicaid expansion

JBE is a classic Big Government, Tax and Spending liberal Democrat who pretends to be pro life and honorable. If he had vetoed this bill he would have lost 75-25 against a dog in Louisiana.

This legislation is his Mary Landrieu Tap Dance Bill.
It doesn’t matter, because it will not take effect unless and until Mississippi’s passes SCOTUS. So he gets to pretend to be a conservative like Mary until his vote matters.

Now if he has National aspirations, he will evolve to pro choice in 1.2 milliseconds!
