You are a better man than me by keeping quite on the way home. If she intentionally participated in this, knowing you were in an uncomfortable position, she is a raging bitch...sorry but it is what it is.....her friends would never be welcome in my house again. Honestly, I do not know how you were able to stay and put up with it......very inconsiderate of the hosts.....democrats are just scum of the earth people. They have no sense of consideration for anyone who is on the other side of their point of view.
For the record, I HATE republicans....but DESPISE democrats......

Every Dem I've met practices exactly what they preach: Preach stupid, practice stupid.

So, we got into talking about taxes and sure enough, the deflections started when I asked them why they are for more taxation when they realize tariffs jack up prices. The first reaction was "Trump can't universally impose tariffs".

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when you posed that question.

Marriage is built on affection between people with shared values. A Democrat spouse has absolutely no values in common with a normal person.

You’re Republican, so worst case it’s a strongly worded letter.

My ex-wife is a liberal. More like the artsy old school liberals. Oddly we never really argued about politics. Half of her friends were also liberal but they would rarely talk about politics especially at a dinner. When they did it was never mean spirited. But they would post crazy shite on Facebook

After my father passed his youngest brother took over the his roll of being the patriarch of the extended family.
We normally gather at his place on the 4th of July and some Thanksgivings. He and most of the extended family are libs. My wife and kids are mostly conservative with a libertarian lean. My uncle does not get under my skin but my youngest sister and several others do.
Two summers ago I had taken the jabs and insults and finally straight out calling anyone who supported Trump is a Nazi! And we were taking their rights away!
I lost my temper and said what rights are Trump taking away? They ganged up and I ended up blasting them and giving them a junior high civics lesson!
I have not heard one rumble from them since! Even under their breath! My wife just sits on the porch and watches the fish jump! It should be an interesting Thanksgiving this year if we attend!

That's the point of the story.

Why did they bring it up?

Why do people bring up anything? When the people I'm around start talking about things I'm not interested in, I either try to change the subject or excuse myself.

Okay. Now you are just being obtuse. Suppose next month at the Slidell Cracker Barrell after the Texas game some conservative friends of mine stop by and join us. After some brief football talk don't you think I would have an obligation, if anything just politeness, to shut off any politcal talk once it started?
