Wife Democrat Me Republican Dinner With Democrat Friends

We were invited to Democrat Friends for dinner last night and were having good dinner and then after dinner sat in Living room and all the sudden they seemed to intentionally start bashing President Trump.
Out of respect i tried to keep quiet and just said i am republican which they already knew and said i think for myself and have a few things i wish he had done better and left it at that.
It then turned into a full scale Democratic meeting with my wife which she knew did not go over with me and when i went quiet she realized i was not happy.
I would never ever do that to someone in my house as guests. I did not say a word on way home and wanted to wait to have the conversation today when i have calmed down.
I don't understand why you would invite someone to your house and intentionally put them in that situation.
Obviously these are more my wife's friends but i was raised to be respectful and i didn't want to cause a situation where it put her in a bad spot.
My wife and i learned early on for the sake of our marriage to just stay away from politics or we wouldn't make it.
I think she knows what is coming today.

No way would I marry a democrat.
My Republican FIL, since retired, has gotten pretty deep into NC state politics. He's got to meet Trump and Vance a couple of times at private events here in NC. Pretty cool.
I have a buddy who married a democrat. No way in hell. I have zero respect for democrats.

You should have let them know they were not being very diverse nor inclusive. I have yet to meet a Democrat that practices what they preach!

Political affiliation is their identity. They can't help it. I mean they can, but they are completely dominated by their emotions.
Had a similar type thing happen w/ some of my family. At my aunt's house and her whole family, including their in-laws, are basically communists. I just basically told them I'm totally willing to tell you what I disagree w/ and the reasons why, but this is going to be a deflection fest on your part in no time flat.
So, we got into talking about taxes and sure enough, the deflections started when I asked them why they are for more taxation when they realize tariffs jack up prices. The first reaction was "Trump can't universally impose tariffs". I told them right there, I'm done.

I subscribe to a financial newsletter where Trump is often mentioned due to the Iran war, etc. Subscribers are allowed to comment at the end of the letter.
The first response was from an obvious liberal bashing Trump and then everyone who voted for him. This is a non-political financial newsletter and yet someone casually thinks it's okay to trash people because of who they voted for.
I'm not surprised at all by a liberal acting this way in a politically-focused situation, but this is an environment where ideas are supposed to be shared and common respect given (obviously not TD's PT). I just pointed out that we've lost something important when this happens. I doubt he'll give two shits about his behavior, but someone had to point out the line had been crossed.

Youre wife is a democrat. Fine if shes a true dem that thinks moderately. But, if she swarms in a pack, like she did last night, im telling you the future is bad for you. Liberals arent self thinkers. They initialize when in groups only. Think about her raising your kids, especially when you arent present (at work etc).
I dont know if youre stronger, or much weaker than me, but i call them out immediately and therefore distancing myself from being around those friends in the future.

No way I could marry a Democrat woman today. And definitely can't see myself socializing on a intimate level with them. I can't have dinner with a room full of pedophile supporters.
