You do that with family, not your spouse.

You can always get away from family, but you can’t with a spouse. Means you’re not aligned.

Trump has different opinions on politics than the left does and they shot him once and tried at least one other time.

Charlie Kirk had different opinions on politics than the left and they killed him.

So apparently to the left, it is not okay

I understand what everyone on both sides is saying and i knew what i was getting into when we got married.

We had to make our peace early on or we wouldn't have made it 24 years. I think it surprised her when they went there.

She lived in California her whole life and Texas has been some adjustment for her. Republicans have their people like these people too . I made it clear you disrespect her you disrespect me too.

If i am right she will not have a problem talking to them.

This Democrat stood by me through Kidney failure and 4 and a half years of home dialysis before getting a Transplant with some complications.

Didn't really mean to get so deep on this just didn't like them going political but if you base all your decisions on Democrat and Republican then your missing the point i was trying to bring up in this thread.

Just respect people and don't go political with guests after a nice evening when they knew i felt different.

Wow i think i may have gone off the deep end.

Sorry Moving on.

Thank God Mrs Cricket is conservative and better yet, she seems to get more and more conservative as the years go by. These lunatic lefties have only cemented her conservatism.

You need to have a sit down meeting with your wife and her friends.

Make it clear this sh!t won't fly and to keep their opinions to themselves.

Make sure you have a bowl of oranges on the table.

Why the frick did you marry someone with completely different political views as you? When you get divorced, just know you chose this life.

This. They're all miserable fricks. Why would anyone voluntarily choose to be surrounded by them for life?

I agree, however watching millions of Dems celebrate multiple murders of people they disagreed with politically has made it clear that they are the ones you need to convince of this. Until then I will listen to them tell us all how much they are glad people who think like me are dead and extrapolate they'd like me dead as well.

I think the issue for most and certainly for me is not so much the politics as much as it's the morality of the ideologies. If my wife and I disagreed on tax policy for the local library, okay whatever. Not a big deal. When "politics" started leaning into issues of deep moral convictions for me, that's where I draw the line. I couldn't be married to someone who is for violence against people they disagree with, murdering babies, unfettered illegal invasions disguised as immigration, trans and LGBT ideology pushed on kids. She may not outright say that she is "for" those things, but her vote goes to people who absolutely are and I couldn't deal with that.

Definitely weird because if it’s the first time, why now? I’d wager it’s been no different any other time this time was just more intense on the OP.

I am the same way. I didn't always feel this way, either. The stakes are just too high today. They stand for everything I oppose and against everything I favor. I left a band in which I had played for 21 years because of their TDS and liberal, leftist leanings and support. I feel much better with that poison out of my life and social activities. I used to agree with Thomas Jefferson's philosophy on having friends with a different political belief. Not anymore. Times are different now.

I would never ever do that to someone in my house as guests. I did not say a word on way home and wanted to wait to have the conversation today when i have calmed down.

I don't understand why you would invite someone to your house and intentionally put them in that situation.

Liberals think they're so fricking smart and they thought they were gonna' tell your "Nazi" Repubican Trumper arse what's up. That's all that was. They are so eaten up with TDS, it's all they think about.

It's not policy differences anymore. Liberals falsely believe they have some sort of "moral superiority" because of their s*icidal empathy. They believe Conservatives are evil and should be put in re-education camps. They look at Conservatives as less than human.

For the OP, all I can say is, get ready for the divorce papers. I really hope she brought a fair amount of assets to the marriage, otherwise she's going to take you to the cleaners. And then she'll get to brag to her liberal friends about how she fleeced her evil conservative ex.

And don't raise your voice too much, otherwise she'll probably add on that you "threatened" her and committed domestic violence, causing her to get even more. Or if she wants to go nuclear, just put out a false rape allegation against you and destroy your life completely.

Sorry to say it, but I think you know how this is going to go.

Nearly the same thing happened to us at a relatives house. Had a nice dinner and my SIL asked everyone still at the table after dessert, what they thought about some recent political event. My wife and I were the only Republicans at the table and the next ten minutes were extremely tense. It was like a feeding frenzy of sharks. We left fairly quickly.
I was pretty pissed at SIL and told her the next day to never pull a stunt like that again. My wife told her the same when she talked to her later in the day.
We would never do that to them if the situation was reversed, and have been asked by some of the attendees not to speak about politics around their kids and kids spouses at gatherings hosted by us, because of their strong Democrat beliefs. We have always respected their wishes.
Just goes to show that it’s (D)iferent when they are the hosts.
