Can anyone name any piece of legislation? Anything he's done of any substance?

Is there any objective case for McCarthy other than tenure, swampiness, fund raising, etc.

On the issues, he just doesn’t appear to make a positive impact for the Republican base or Americans.

Seems to be in it for power, prestige and the greenback.

He's compromised. They have him sending butthole pics to a kid or something. John Roberts / Denny Hastert redux.

At the least derogatory, he’s been a minority leader for so long he doesn’t know how to be a majority leader/Speaker.

Objective answer:

He was the minority leader, elected by fellow republicans of the house, during the last congress. Typically when the house switches party control, the existing minority leader become house majority leader.

Outside of any major scandals, the minority leader coasts into the speaker position. I think around 13 times the congress has changed hands over a hundred times, there has been controversy and the minority leader didn't become speaker. This is one of those potential situations.

Typically, the ones who raise the most money are in positions of leadership. Once they raise money they buy the support of other members through campaign contributions.

It’s “his time”, and former President Trump endorsed him.

I’m glad to see the 20 fight back, though I’d now call it 19 because one of them just nominated the former President, who was begging the 20 to capitulate and vote for Swampy McCarthy.
