Dude, all I see on this board is "socialism, socialism, socialism". Liberals are Marxists! They're COMMIES. You name it, we're trying to steal your money.

The only thing "Simpleton" about his particular topic, 'incomes, taxes, and the GOP', is that there's a whole shitload of people who vote against their own financial interests.

It is greatly obvious that you don't own or operate a business, or that you understand the power that financial regulations have on your income check.

OK. Fair enough. Then why does no Republican on this board come out against GOP tax policies?

I did and still do.

The tax rates that were lowered this year wasn't a great move. They should have been lower resulting in more money in your pocket.

In this thread liberals demonstrate the fundamental reason why freedom minded people don’t vote with them: their almost religious like belief that they and they alone know what’s best for everyone else.

"They" (you) are.

You are.

If you were remotely not Marxist/Communist you would realize that a "progressive" income tax is about the stupidest, most counterproductive, unfair thing ever.

"Okay, kids get out there and do well. But, if you do too well, we're going to blame all of society's ills on you and try to claw back as much as we can of what you produce."

GTFO here.

A fair income tax system would be a flat tax of about 18 to 22%. From the first dollar to the last. No deductions. No loopholes. No social engineering nonsense or picking winners and losers. Make $10? Pay $2. Make $400k? Pay $80k. Make $1.5m? Pay $300k.

Period. Full stop.

What else is there? It's proven time and again to be the number 1 motivator for voters.

Health Care is a pretty big issue. Why? Because the ACA is basically a hidden tax to subsidize low income taxpayers.

Immigration is a big issue too. Why? All of those people walking across the Southern border are future registered Democratic voters.

Humans are innately religious creatures, even self professed atheists are prone to religious thinking, and this is a great example of it.

It can be traced back much further. Man had always been selfish.

How old are you?

Democrats have been using this same talking point for 50 years. I'm guessing you probably just heard it for the first time in your political science class?

One of the biggest misconceptions of liberals is this whole "socialist" thing. I bring home good money. Do I bring home more than $250k annually? Nope. But I'm in the top 10% of ALL EARNERS in this country. Even so, I'm not in the top tax bracket so WHY IN THE frick would I vote for politicians and policies that predominately look out for only the top bracket?

This explains the left's idiocy. I do not vote for income tax breaks. I vote for a rolling economy. I work in manufacturing sector which was shrinking due to restrictive tax laws and pressure from environmentalists. In the 8 yrs of Obama I had my job at one company eliminated. My kids got out of college with excellent degrees and grades and had little to no good job opportunities.

Since Obama has left the manufacturing sector has rebounded and I got good employment again and my kids have found theirs too.

I am close to retirement but I need a few more years of growth in my savings from the market to achieve my goals. During the Obama years my portfolio puttered along at anemic rates. Since he has left my portfolio has recovered and I am on track.

Lets watch the next few yrs to see if the economy improves, stays the same, or recedes...

And this does not even mention foreign policy or immigration differences.

Im guessing you were drunk when you posted this

I dont vote completely based off my self interests. I dont believe it’s morally right to steal money from paul to pay peter. Im not in a top earning bracket, may never be.

Perhaps you are confused as to how elections are decided. But here's a little tidbit you can store in your noggin: 1% of the voting public = 1% of the vote, not 51%. A politician who neglects 99% of the voting public in favor of 1% will generally not get elected. That may be tough for you to absorb, but do try.

Does it occur to you that the bottom 80% might well use your same logic, and squeeze you into the top bracket too? You think your wealth envy is any more justified against me than theirs is against you?

Most people in the 5% move up and down, it's pretty fluid.

This actually makes a lot of sense... if you're selfish and short sighted.

Tax policies goes well beyond that. A progressive tax code stifles a person's drive and productivity. If the tax brackets get too redistributive innovation will suffer. Maybe the next Bill Gates of technology won't think its worth it to bust their arse and produce a revolutionary product if they know the government will just take most of their money.

And all for what? To create programs that constantly make the unemployed lifestyle more and more comfortable? The fewer workers you have the shittier your society gets, both morally and economically.

You might not see it, but I still have a dog in the hunt with respect to the taxes millionaires pay despite not being a millionaire myself. This laptop I'm typing on right now is pretty bitchin. So is my cellphone. And my 550hp daily driver. That's what capitalism brings. Go look at the nations that have socialized healthcare and look at the medical innovations being created/discovered there then compare it to America.
