You've got a beautiful family of four. Two little girls, an OT 8 wife. You pull down $110k a year, wife pulls down another $100k. You've got nice vehicles, a fishing boat, retirement funds on the right track, and a really nice house in a good neighborhood.

This person? This person is poor, in terms of income tax laws. Why do people who live comfortably pretend that they're rich? Is it a status thing? Like, "Yo Jimbo, I'm a republican. I ain't going to pay taxes to cover poor people."? Like you get across the idea that you obviously make good money because you vote republican instead of just sharing your income? Are you wary of your income to feel it's easier to just say you're Republican than to share your salary?

One of the biggest misconceptions of liberals is this whole "socialist" thing. I bring home good money. Do I bring home more than $250k annually? Nope. But I'm in the top 10% of ALL EARNERS in this country. Even so, I'm not in the top tax bracket so WHY IN THE frick would I vote for politicians and policies that predominately look out for only the top bracket?

Hell, even if I make it to the top bracket, say $300K gross, I only get charged the top rate on anything over $250k. It's not a big difference even if I barely make into that top bracket.

If you look at recent elections and figure 45-47% of voters nationally support GOP tax policies, that means roughly 40% of people are voting against their own financial interests (based on $250k income is top 5%).

WHY? Why are y'all doing this? I'm sure there are some on this board who make greater, if not far greater than, $250k year. But there aren't many of you. So wtf is up with the rest of y'all voting against your own pocketbooks?

You do realize there is more to a vote than a dollar. I make in the top bracket but I've been voting R for long before I ever went into business

What else is there? It's proven time and again to be the number 1 motivator for voters. Hell, it's why we're the United States of America and not still a group of British colonies.

Not true at all. For some it's only about a dollar but there are people out there who look at more than one item.

How, exactly, did I vote against my interests by voting for Trump?
How much money did that vote cost me?
What money have I lost in voting for Cruz?

Be specific.

Dude, all I see on this board is "socialism, socialism, socialism". Liberals are Marxists! They're COMMIES. You name it, we're trying to steal your money.

The only thing "Simpleton" about his particular topic, 'incomes, taxes, and the GOP', is that there's a whole shitload of people who vote against their own financial interests.

You haven’t explained how GOP tax policies are against their own financial interests.

OK. Fair enough. Then why does no Republican on this board come out against GOP tax policies?

Which republican policy increases taxes on the non-rich?

The TCJA actually made our tax code MORE progressive.

It did not raise taxes on the poor and middle class. In fact, 100% of the people who got tax increases were people who owned expensive homes.
