Why do liberals concoct words and phrases? “Homeless” = “unhoused lives?”

The need many leftists have to manipulate and distort language is a strange phenomenon.

Unhoused lives?

Is that a weird, liberal way of socially grifting off of Black Lives Matter?

Equally annoying are their regular attempts at co-opting word meaning(s) to push their creepy agendas.

What’s this about? Are they trying to elicit emotion to the highest degree they can?

It’s weird.

Because they live in the world of the ideals while conservatives live in the world of practicality - it's not rocket surgery

Bum was always perfectly descriptive.

Fascists do that. But Republicans suck at politics and gaming language, so we call these evil fascists “cuddly liberals” while they call us Nazis.

So my advice to you: we are in a war with these pukes. You too need to use language as a weapon.

"Bum* is such an efficient and descriptive term. If you really need to fancy it up "vagrant" is right there for the taking. But I think "hobo" carries the connotation of a more adventurous, travelling lifestyle.

“Unhoused” implies that someone should be housing them.

“Homeless” simply identifies that person as not having a home- which may or may not be that person’s fault. (Implying some level of duty to take care of yourself).

An Orwellian way of chipping away at the traditional American values of self-reliance and individualism.

To make bad things seem less bad, and spare feelings.

Another example: they are not “pedophiles” because that’s potentially offensive to pedophiles. The preferred terminology is “minor attracted person” or MAP for short.

Disgusting.

Neal Boortz used to call them “urban outdoorsmen”. Great term and sounds kinda exciting right? Imagine the section at the REI store….grocery car accessories…cool boxes to construct….etc

Because all of their talking points are generated from lefty think tanks to find the most palatable phrasing for the masses.

Actually, they were the first to be really good at it and have always been better than the left at it. The linguistics games pre-dates Vietnam. A good later example is using enhanced interrogation instead of torture.

The Left live in a fantasy land.

Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. . . . The process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there's no reason or excuse for committing thought-crime. It's merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won't be any need even for that. . . . Has it ever occurred to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?

Because controlling the vocabulary is a way to control culture. Controlling culture is a way to control politics. Controlling politics is a way to get ideological legislation passed.

I strongly disagree. For one, we still call them “liberals” (see topic for proof).

Another prime example is the left redefining “illegal alien” to “migrant.” Even right leaning outfits have now adopted their term, thus ceding the language battlefield again to the left. If we were good, we would have countered with the term “foreign invader” to push the language wars back to the neutral “illegal alien.”

Because they are forked tongued liars

They twist words to play on the emotional

It is hard to feel sorry for derelicts and bums, but homeless people, now that is just sad.

They also change easy to understand names of conditions like shell shocked, to battle fatigue, to PTSD
