From the early part of the 20th century to around the 1960s or so, Sicilian immigrants owned/ran basically every little corner grocery store in Louisiana.

This situation ain’t exactly like that, but I guess it’s sorta similar.

It’s because young Americans, who should be their competition, spend their time partying and whining that boomers ruined it for them. Meantime Indians work their asses off, don’t take vacations to exotic places, don’t order out or go to restaurants, save money until they have enough cash to buy a business, and then work their asses off to make it a success.

We didn’t simply hand them over. They used family to their advantage. They buy a hotel, fire all of the employees, move the entire family in to run the place, keeping all money in house. They buy a second property and repeat the process with more family members. After a few decades they owned approximately 75 percent of all hotels in the country.

Well that would make them insanely stupid given what we know now.

Somehow these Asian countries get this great reputation of being smart but they frick up monumental decisions.

Sorry, 7 million in the entire US since 2015, not just Texas.
Layoff Hedge

I'm sure some of them were Bengali or Pakistani, and I'm sure there's a French citizen in there somewhere... but yeah, Indian.

You forgot our government "tax payers" give then tons of money with very low interest rates to purchase the hotels and convenience stores, even if they make no money.

They then have a family member apply for money to use after the 1st loan expires. It's free money from taxpayers.

That tweet covers it as have some here.

The point is: our tax dollars are given to them by the US government for loans neither you nor I are eligible for.

They bring along every member of their 'family'.

They default on that loan or it's bought by another family for a song. Guess who buys it and guess who keeps working there?

Rinse, repeat.

Y'all need to wake up.

Americans don’t want to live where they work

*not counting traditional work from home, but jobs requiring public spaces/interactions

When I lived in SoCal it was Koreans who owned all of the convenience stores in the hood. Mamasan would be at the register. If she was killed in a robbery, the owner would get a new mamasan.

Around Baton Rouge it depends which C-store. The one owner C-stores lease their building.

They will move their family into the hotel. The Indians finance each other. Since they are living in hotel, they have lower housing costs. Much lower. They do other such things as well.

They also get a government funded subsidizes for the number of rooms that are not rented out
