You want WW2 type warfare/victory? Then prepare to give up a lot as a civilian and take some significant loses on the military front.

Personally, I am ok with the type of warfare except for the loss of soldiers so far. Grind them down with our greatest weapon, our economy.

It would actually look like a combination of the Iraq and Afghanistan insurgencies, in a landmass that is around 560,000 km squared bigger than either, more mountainous, with an officer class which has cut its teeth during asymmetric operations. As in, they were the group heavily involved in the Iraqi insurgency, as well as the fight against ISIS.
This is a catastrophe waiting to happen. Whomever has the Iranian plateau has long been a land power in West Asia. The ease with which they can project power to proxies speaks to that fact. It's just a dilemma caused by geopolitical advantages which are the result of the geography itself. We are no closer to any cogent objectives than we were in February.
