Why are libs floating a Trump third term?

It seems that they think if they put out the idea in the electorate that Trump would pursue a third term it's going to motivate the Dems to come out and vote against Trump to prevent a second term.
However, what they are inadvertently doing is talking past the sale. They are setting the Dem electorate up mentally to the fact that a Trump second term is inevitable.

Because they're running out of boogeymen to scare the public with.

I am very much against the liberals, who have gone totally off the rails.
However, is this not a common ploy? Weren't there articles suggesting that Obama was going to be president for life?
