Fair enough! I honestly never considered the wage and employee compensation component.

I don't want my tax dollars providing welfare to illegal aliens. They drag down our public education. They need to rise up and fix their own governments like our forefathers did. Parasites Sucking our blood.

It’s an odd topic politically. Democrats have traditionally been very pro labor and unions, while republicans are pro business. Cheap labor is great for business and bad for wages to be very obvious.

In terms of macro economics and GDP they have traditionally been a significant net positive. But what we see more of nowadays is not Mexican male laborers, but rather families and refugees. You can bet that things are pretty bad to pack up the family and walk to the border from Guatemala amidst the elements, cartels, and other dangers.

They can’t legally work in the US, so they can only work under the table. Employers take advantage of it and pay the illegal immigrant worker less than they’d have to pay a citizen or legal resident…thus depressing wages for citizens and legal residents. The employer dodges payroll taxes and the illegal employee isn’t paying income taxes, increasing the burden on those of us who pay taxes along with straining state and local budgets for public services that those illegals utilize.
That's just part of it. They call the IRS, get an EIN over the phone, file a tax return and claim 15 kids and get a "refund" check on taxes they never paid. Don't believe me? Google "Earned Income Credit" and how many checks get sent directly to Mexico.

Illegal immigration is a massive drain on the system, and far outweighs any benefit of the labor they provide.

The fact that you think they are "walking" from Guatemala to our borders tells me you don't have a clue about geography or reality. They are being brought here.

If we didn’t have a gigantic welfare state and were a true free market economy that allows the free movement of labor and competition for wages, it wouldn’t be bad. Immigrant labor would come based on demand.

That’s not the case and our system is taking care of these illegals with taxpayer money all while not allowing companies to hire them. So it’s a drain on resources

That's why Republican politicians no longer want or desire an endorsement from the national Chamber of Commerce. For years an endorsement from them was a big deal, but now an endorsement from the Chamber of Commerce equates to "open borders."

Yep. Here in Alabama, property taxes go to fund public education. Just an example, a Pelham, AL elementary school has 3 ESL teachers. That's at least $120K/year just in wages, being diverted away from the tax-paying citizen's children at that one school.

Had to go to an emergency room lately? Even better, my SIL is a L&D nurse. Pregnant illegal shows up at the hospital about to pop. No prenatal care, no insurance, doesn't speak English. Runs up thousands in medical bills that the hospital will never see a cent of.
