He's pulling troops from Germany and hasn't done anything in the Middle East. It's bad for business for these career military types.
I guaranteee there aren't any high ranking milatary personnel he can replace that agrees with his agenda.

I have 3 very close friends who are retired military. Two AF and one Marine. All 3 of them reached Colonel.

That isn't just a modern issue. By the time a guy reaches O5/O6 they have to decide if they are a 20-25 year guy or going to ride it to 30. If they want to get to 30 or more they have to stop being warriors and be bureaucrats. It is a sad fact.
The best officers I knew are retired 05 or 06s guys who wanted to stay with the fighters and sacrificed a more comfortable retirement to be where the action is.

Part and parcel with the same swamp rats who are in DC. They all flock together. They’re no different than FBI insiders and CIA insiders. They all want that government check in ten years when Trump is gone. Doesn’t matter to them who is behind Trump.

At a certain level you have to become a politician. One thing that doesn't get discussed a lot is Obama's purging of the top ranks during his 8-years. Trump had to inherit a lot of these people.

The Military has its own version of the Swamp. Retired and Active Military in and around DC. Alexander Vindman suck arse types with very high opinions of themselves. They work as Consultants to the Military Industrial Complex, Lobbyists,Think Tanks, and the Media. They don't like Trump because he calls them out for the Phonies that they are.
