quote:Yeah. And previous to the boomers people made money by building horse-drawn buggies and training horses. If you try to make wealth the same way the previous generation did, you're almost certain to fail. That's been true since the 1800s.
Boomers enjoyed the upside: cheap college, affordable housing, expanding Social Security and Medicare, and decades of rising asset prices. Younger people inherit the downside: a massive national debt, strained public services, and warnings that programs will have to be cut just as they come of age.

When do Boomers take ANY accountability?

When do Boomers take ANY accountability?

meh Biden was born a few years before what "they" consider a boomer. Well these are not hard dates. they are mailable. So he is as much of a boomer as someone born in 1946.
Compare this to when boomers call people born in 1999 Millennials. they arent. The det date "they" came up with is 1996. Which IMO is bullshite. Kids born in the early 80s have more in common with people born in the early 70s then kids born in the mid 90s.
Boomer is born after the war. Biden wasnt born after the war.

Gen X here
Same.
It’s been my experience that Millennials and GenZ thinks anyone older than about 40 is a Boomer. So they are talking about us too.
The incessant whining is more than a little tiresome. You live in the most vibrant economy in the world. Figure it out and stop being a beach.

We get it.
We got broad shoulders from carrying you.
Now you can cry on them.

when baby boomers will take responsibility for the mess they left behind.
The little spoiled bastards we left behind was all our fault.
We shoulda stuck to blow jobs.

I didn't mess up any policies. As for your 2,3,4,5.... I did the exact thing you suggested. What do you want me to do next?

Boomers have no wisdom to offer.
Do you even have capacity to think critically before typing this crap? Do you have a clue as to who had "wisdom to offer" regarding the computer or handheld you are typing on, the software running it, the network enabling your communication, or FTM do you even know who the POTUS is?

Boomer is born after the war. Biden wasnt born after the war.
Also, they are ignorant as to when certain problems started.
AH HA. That's it. He is right.
Boomers failed to give him a proper education.

If you view things strictly through a materialist lens, I guess
Boomers inherited a white, wealthy, conservative country and left it brown, broke, and gay

Speaking about fiscal responsibility, the most fiscally responsible people I know are Boomers. Came from a family with 9 Boomer children, dad worked while mom stayed home to take care of the kids. There was one vehicle in the family. When mom returned to work as a nurse she finally got a car and a drivers license when she was in her early 40's. All 9 children are still alive and living modestly and for the most part debt free.
That's very good for them, but they are in the roughly 50% that set themselves up right. There's a lot of Boomers that haven't done this.
What they did was avoid carrying a lot of consumer debt.
Outside of their home mortgages and the occasional car loan they avoided debt. No European vacations, no lake homes, didn't pay for their children's college, because they didn't have the money. I'm not saying they didn't helped their children with some school loans and other financial needs but they didn't write blank checks for their children to be irresponsible.
When I say they live modestly, here's an example. Not one sibling has owned more than 2 homes in their lifetimes, they weren't focused on trying to stair step up to the next McMansion so most have been without a mortgage for at least 10-15 years.
When you live like this you may not have the Better Homes and Gardens show palace but in turn you have the savings to enjoy retirement.

At some point these posts border on pathetic.
You have no clue ... ZERO ... regarding what previous generations were "given", "earned", or pissed away. You suppose homes were always air conditioned, with luxury appointments, because they are now. You assume computers, the internet, on line shopping, 500 TV channels on multiple TVs in a home were always around, because you cannot fathom life without them.
You were born on 3rd base, and yet you're bitching that you still have to make it home.
GEEZ boomer! you think you had it so hard? you know some people grew up without a house. they lived in things called caves. you know they would have to hit rocks together to make fire. you know they barely had a language they could talk to their friends with.. It was a lot of "Hoo Hoo Har Har". They had to use leaves to whipe their arse. you had fricking toilet paper.

Wait, you think Gen X is a spoonfed generation? Our parents didn't even allow us in the house before dark. The only exception was when we were home alone at 8 or 9 years old. The term latchkey kids didn't come from nowhere. We're the least coddled generation since the GG.

Boomers inherited a white, wealthy ... country and left it ... broke
Regarding: "Boomers inherited a white, wealthy, conservative country and left it ... gay," the survey says:
Generation Z: 23.1% LGBTQ+
Millennials: 14.2% LGBTQ+
Generation X: 5.1% LGBTQ+
Baby Boomers: 3.0% LGBTQ+
Silent Generation: ~ 2% LGBTQ+
Figure it out. You can do it.

Younger people are increasingly asking when baby boomers will take responsibility for the mess they left behind.
For over 40 years, the U.S. stacked up tens of trillions in debt while taxes were cut and benefits expanded, especially for older, politically powerful voters, most of them boomers. Younger generations are now told to “tighten their belts” as interest on that debt becomes one of the largest line items in the budget.
Boomers enjoyed the upside: cheap college, affordable housing, expanding Social Security and Medicare, and decades of rising asset prices. Younger people inherit the downside: a massive national debt, strained public services, and warnings that programs will have to be cut just as they come of age.
When younger people point this out, they often get scolded about “lattes and iPhones,” as if individual consumption choices are what created a multi-trillion-dollar federal liability.
