The younger generation support these liberal politics and outright socialism/marxism so I'm not sure they should talk. I'm not a boomer but I'm not sharing what I have built with the younger generation just because they think they deserve a piece. I'm about ten years away from retirement and am literally investing every single dime with my house paid off.
They need to earn it the old-fashioned way. Most of them still drive better cars than I do, and live in apartments. Then complain about their finances.
Military is a fantastic way to beat the "system". Everybody should get some of the discipline and serve in one capacity or another. But that is a different argument.
BTW, I am Gen X.

Millennials pretty much use every excuse in the book and take no accountability.
Everyone is on the spectrum now. Either a bunch of boomers are autistic and undiagnosed doing just fine, or millennials just use this as an excuse to be lazy shitheads.

I have this argument with my children probably every few months. When I was their age, I was in the military and when they were young we were on WIC. They don't remember the days of just trying to buy diapers nor should they. They only have now to draw on, when their parents have joined the top part of the curve ...
They made the choice to drive nice cars, take nice vacations, and live in an apartment instead of making sacrifices. Those weren't my choices. We don't discuss politics, because they don't know what it is to truly struggle. Because of my wife and mine's choices we have zero debt, and are working toward retirement. Our cars are paid off, the house is paid off, etc
I've lived both sides of the coin. Their struggles aren't remotely unique. Every generation struggles to an extent

I don't get those discounts quite yet . However, I can actually see retirement and my investments are taking on a life of their own. It has been a long, hard road to get here. I am enjoying these years after the kids left, and as a younger grandparent that spoils the crap out of the grandkids. I still work a high-stress job that requires way more than forty hours a week.
Again, my choice.

It’s likely significantly north of that.
10 years ago, most of the posters were in their late 20’s to late 30’s. However, around the time Trump was elected, some other SEC regional message boards got shut down, and this board got a huge infusion of older people from these other boards. The posting habits of these people combined with changes in how zoomer college students interact (mainly migrating to discords) caused the user base of the site to rapidly grey. We got another huge wave of boomers from Q going viral, as this was one of the least moderated, safest, places on the internet to discuss it.
When I started posting here 15 years ago, the average age was probably around 30. Today, it’s closer to 65. That should tell you everything you need to know about why the character of TD and the poliboard has changed so much in that time.

Where are those discounts you speak of?
I get 10% off at Lowes and Home Depot. A few other places but that's all veteran discounts.

Well newsbreak: This country is run by people of all ages smoothly sliding between these named divisions just as the rolling changes flow across a specific named group.
Now the useful idiots like OP wants to blame their failures on some specific group.
Another newsbreak: There has been so much change over the years that nothing but a professor could identify all of them and assign good or bad to changes. Even then the dividing line would not be correct due to the blur those born close to the line would cause.
