Of course they would. Do you really think US citizens are going to stand by and allow other US citizens to die while protecting their 2nd Amendment right.
Please look at countries with no right to protect themselves or remove tyranny with weapons and see how those people are treated by their gooberment.

Are we talking about the full-time military, the Guard/Reserves or both combined?
Many military members own personal firearms and are sworn to uphold the Constitution "against enemies both foreign and domestic". To attempt to go door-to-door blindly confiscating firearms is to directly violate their oaths (and many would simply refuse on such grounds).
But let's say enough followed such an illegal order, what then? There are somewhere near 400 million legally registered firearms in the US. The cumulative impact of forced confiscation would eventually force armed confrontations across the country. You wouldn't see it so much in large population centers (DC, NYC, LA, Chicago, etc) but attempting to do this in smaller towns like Bastrop, Delhi, Winnsboro, Livingston, etc. would end up being lots of Cliven Bundy-style standoffs. If the military were to go hard on them (mowing them down with Blackhawks or drones, for example), the political blowback would be insane. Even Twitter wouldn't be able to censor it all.

As well they should. The soldiers orders are unconstitutional.
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.
Every gun law on the books is unconstitutional. Any gun law is an infringement. If the government wants to pass a gun law it should be done with an amendment.
Like they did with prohibition. But they know they could never get it approved by the states.

Logistics, man power, the Constitution, and the fact that the US owns 51% of all private weapons that is known including trillions of rounds of ammo. Short of bombing houses which would be a declaration of war on the citizens. What are they going to do? Give a seizure order and risk alienating at least 3/4 of your forces who are gun owners themselves? Everyone knows that confiscation is not feasible. The military who would stay and actually try would get crushed. No sitting President even this retarded motherfricker would have the balls nor the stomach to declare war on gun owning citizens. The strategy of the left is to make owning a firearm so expensive that very few will be able to own them legally. It won't work though, but they will try .
