Brazil is a major economic power in South America and cannot be allowed to be a Chinese client state.

Yes, but as the poster above said, Brazil is a real player in the world, unlike Venezuela

In other words, I don’t see Lula ending up in Rikers

No, but we have to be this hemisphere police unfortunately. The election was stolen in Brazil and affects us big time. It will be rectified.

Well if he tries to do anything to help innocent people in other countries, everybody will bitch and moan that he spends too much time helping other countries instead of ours

The comments about "world police" made me think of this.

WTF does Brazil's elections have to do with us. I swear this board will say every election is rigged if they don't get the result they wanted. Lula may of won the election ,but he faces a hostile congress.

???? He won the election and Brazilians are apparently cool with it. We shouldn’t meddle, it’s not our country.

Having the largest nation in South America be a Chinese client state has everything to do with us both from a dollar solvency standpoint as well as impacting our ability to be non interventionist outside the western hemisphere.

If China gets a foothold in Canada and SA we will have to respond.

Unless you don’t believe in the Monroe doctrine or hemispheric defense in which case we aren’t going to agree on much.

I tend to think this whole “we can’t be the world police” trope is so lazily overused and overstated. If that were the case, are those who are so quick to say/use it aware of the endless list of things that have gone on around the world, and going on around the world, that would be squarely in the category of things that would warrant “world police” attention, why haven’t we addressed all those countless things? My point being, if one were to expand their thinking a bit, perhaps he could or would realize how silly it is to so confidently declare that to be the case, ie America being world police.
