How dangerous is the religion that preaches "you can do wrong as long as you repent"? That religion even has a confession station where you confess to a human being who wears a beanie cap
That is a lazy and ignorant statement. Sins can be forgiven by truly repenting. But the sins still exist.
Also, it’s extremely more difficult to say something you are truly ashamed of to another human being than just apologizing in the vacuum of the mind. Some people find that helpful.
And it’s confess “through” not “to”

Not sure if mentioned, but I believe he is pulling a "Beto" here. This is his step dad's name or something.

Charles I thought you stopped being a lib?

Nothing in that story affects the point of the admin forcing the FCC to change its rules that have been in place for decades.
Remember, you started off with this
Not me. And that statement is still true.
I never referenced a specific pol that would require that equal time. I don't think you did, either.
Referencing a tweet with a "gotcha" b/c others referenced/inferred a different pol has no bearing on this conversation.

CBS pulled the interview so as not to be in violation of equal time laws.

Looks like he was born to a single mom. She married Talarico and he adopted her kid. I may abhor his policies, but I'll give him a pass on this.

The admin did not force the FCC to change its rules.

Imagine all the kids they could feed with 2.8 MILLION Dollars the dems dumped into Jasmine.
It really is a sin.
It really is a sin.

And why is this now a violation of that law (purportedly)?
You could ask CBS lawyers. They did this as an internal decision. The FCC had nothing to do with it.

The FCC changed their enforcement of the rule just a few weeks ago.
CBS's lawyers are responding to that.

So you think the FCC went rogue to target late night talk show hosts?
Especially given light that they're targeting what they find partisan behavior, ie, against the admin? The FCC chair even admitted this, specifically:
quote:
“Importantly, the FCC has not been presented with any evidence that the interview portion of any late night or daytime television talk show program on air presently would qualify for the bona fide news exemption,” the FCC said in a public notice Wednesday. “Moreover, a program that is motivated by partisan purposes, for example, would not be entitled to an exemption under longstanding FCC precedent.”

It's either a rule or it's not. If it's not, then CBS should challenge it legally as a 1st amendment issue.
Looks to me like they asked for guidance and made a business decision. You can't blame the government for every decision risk-averse legal departments make.
I personally think it's a dumb decision, and dumb rule. But CBS made its own decision.

He is the chosen one! He will set them free and lead to a Texas LGBTQ+/- Renaissance.
He, to me, comes across as severely limited in broad appeal. He's pasty looking. He looks like he came from central casting. The Dems lined them up and they thought he was the strongest candidate. The guy looks like a total dweeb. The Austin queers will love him, but he's knocking out a black Queen for sure so don't expect her to be gracious and work to help him win. Don't expect blacks to turn out for him for that reason.

The paragraph before the text you quoted (which I’ve already linked directly from FCC.gov) says:
quote:
Concerns have been raised that the industry has taken the Media Bureau’s 2006 staff-level decision to mean that the interview portion of all arguably similar entertainment programs— whether late night or daytime—are exempted from the section 315 equal opportunities requirement under a bona fide news exemption. This is not the case. As noted above, these decisions are fact specific and the exemptions are limited to the program that was the subject of the request.
Which we know that you didn’t understand, because you had this question previously in the thread:
quote:
And why is this now a violation of that law (purportedly)?
Despite your not understanding what was being discussed, you were drawn to this topic like a moth to flame unable to pass up the opportunity to libsplain to the board how this was an “unforced error” by the admin, including giving:
quote:
the Left/DEMs more ammo for their "authoritarian/fascist" rhetoric

They didn't ask. The admin changed the guidance 180 and told them.

You're broken.
Liberals want more government. I'm arguing that this is more government and it's....bad. The opposite of liberalism.
quote:
how this was an “unforced error”
That's a reference to the political ramifications, not the legal aspect.
quote:
the Left/DEMs more ammo for their "authoritarian/fascist" rhetoric
Which is exactly what's happening outside of the echo chamber. Just google Trump Colbert and see all the responses and criticisms of the admin. For what? Targeting a leftist echo chamber that will influence nobody, at this point?
