And why is this now a violation of that law (purportedly)?
What if it’s always been a violation of the law?
But you’re the lawyer, why don’t you tell us?

It literally hasn't been. Even a month ago, it wasn't, and that was the law for decades.
That new FCC guidance IS the unforced error

Decades ago, Congress made the decision to prevent covered broadcast television programs from being used to advance certain partisan political purposes. Specifically, through section 315 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended,2 Congress put protections in place to ensure equal access to broadcast station facilities for legally qualified candidates for office, regardless of political affiliation.

a conservative resumé.
Texan that lives 30 miles from him. There is nothing conservative about him.
He fakes the Christian thing because he went to a Presbyterian Seminary, but is pro trans, gay, and abortion. Absolutely none of his messaging involves repenting and believing in Christ. I may have missed something, but i haven't seen anything proving otherwise.

The thing that makes him scary is that he comes off as a smart middle of the road democrat.

He believes the arch angel was offering Mary an abortion if she didn't "consent" to carrying the son of God. True story.

Dear Lord…..he is a closeted purple headed ghoul that wraps himself in some weird version of Christianity

He is basically the male version of Jen Hatmaker. Extremely frightening.

He is a wicked man, but could be dangerous. He is an extremely ambitious politician who attended a protestant seminary. He uses the bible to push his political agenda and will manipulate scripture to push a narrative. For example, he says the Bible approves abortion because "God asked Mary's permission" (Which is not what happened, but the biblically illiterate audience eats it up).
What makes him most dangerous is that he preaches the kind of Christianity that is most dangerous. "Nothing you do is wrong. Jesus loves you, so don't repent and dont change your ways"
I like Rogan, but it spoke volumes when Rogan interviewed him and said "You are one of the good Christians."
This is the false doctrine that's being preached at many faux Christian churches today. I was shocked a few years ago when I saw the first church in the KC metro with a gay rainbow flag being proudly displayed, the number of churches displaying the gay rainbow flag is growing.

That's exactly what Telerico is. A squeaky clean prog dressed up as a moderate to trick Texans into supporting a Dem who will stab them in the back. ::See the current Governor of Virgina for more information::

There are definitely parts of Talarico’s theology (mainly abortion) that I strongly disagree with him on.
I do agree with him that there is a lot more focus on gay marriage than there should be, and that caring for those in need are genuinely good things to prioritize as a believer. I think he gets thing right like saying that your politics should fit into your theology, not the other way around (even if I disagree with portions of his theology).

The biggest tell is the TV ads that seem to be targeting other Dem candidates, but also refrain from mentioning that the commercial is also for a Dem candidate. They intentionally skirt around the party affiliation. Dead giveaway.

Colbert never made this claim. He was clear in the show and interview that CBS is the one told him not to air the interview or mention Talarico’s name. Allegedly, this was because CBS was afraid the FCC would retaliate by changing the rules for late night broadcast television. Which, to be fair, Carr mentioned he was considering publicly.
