the problem with privatizing is the massive up front cost of building all new track. No private company would, or even could, front that cost.

If you want the organization to be private for efficiency sake, maybe, but the track and infrastructure is 100% a public need and government responsibility.

But yeah the US’ number 1 failure in the post war era is shunning rail travel in favor of our big beautiful interstates that destroy cities and parking lots that ruin space use.

Ironically, Eisenhower never thought the Interstates should've been built within central cities, but stop at ring roads.

Marriage, and the definition thereof, is a religious matter.

The state should not be involved in sanctioning of marriage.

As long as there are legal benefits to marriage, there needs to be some legal sanction.

This is why I broke from libertarian and back to Republican. I think we have to have laws that are socially conservative. It's the only way to have a homogenous society and a Nation of like-minded people.

I agree with this. After seeing the justice system over the last few years it would be very easy for someone innocent to get fricked.

It’s not that I don’t think that some heinous crimes deserve death, I’ve just seen what overzealous prosecutors are willing to do.

If the dude confesses, there’s witnesses, and absolutely no way that it couldn’t possibly be the accused, maybe…

I also hope for forgiveness and repentance more than I want justice usually.

Term limits….term limits….and term limits

Reign in big pharma and the insurance industry. Basic healthcare could/should be free but you could add specialized supplementals if desired and or offered by an employer

Marijuana legalization

Infrastructure improvements across the board.

High speed rail to better link the country and reduce auto reliance

Some abortion should be legal. Threat to mother, rape, incest, and other outliers. Against abortion for the “I just don’t want a baby” crowd.

But this isn't the only thing (privileges) that Unions do or get and are codified by law.

I agree. Even if I was not opposed to it, I would not trust our government to run it. They have proven over and over again that the only thing they are good at is adding red tape...

I saod that to say this: I do think that healthcare and insurance should be more accesable and more affordable. Unfortunately the insurance companies have way too much control over people that make those decisions.

Other nations can do it, that is whats sad. It is possible. People just writing it off as "well we're corrupt/retarded so oh well, lets not even try" -- so we'll never have it and will forever pray fate doesnt frick us into eternal debt while megacorps continue to profit.

That's not what Europeans told me. They said people live in a city and everything they need is within bike distance. A 30 mile distance is what Americans call 'a commute'. It's what Europeans call 'a trip.'
And the successful rail systems in Europe are cost effective. American systems require huge govt subsidy because they're so inefficient.
It's certainly possible in the U.S. That does not mean it's preferable.

Crime rate would be higher if abortion was illegal due to the 13% aborting what, 40% of their offspring?

I’m not fanatical about the issue, but I’m ok with weed being legalized. I’m ok with personal use hard drugs being decriminalized, as well. Steroids shouldn’t be a felony, either, or even criminal, for that matter.
