Some people are thoughtful. Lots of people are really angry instead.

While setting up homes in lily white areas and never actually physically lifting a finger to do anything they constantly cry about.
These insufferable people cry about inequality in others and the need to do something and then will pay 1,500 bucks a ticket to go see Taylor swift. Then walk by the homeless on the way to the concert.

Two years doing construction work would end most "female entitlement." They've been kept from doing the heavy lifting in society, that time is over.
A few years of doing "man work" would change their fragile little minds.

Not necessarily. Other posters have pointed out the moral variation in attitudes toward slavery at the time.
That moral variation in attitudes was a necessary step in man’s evolution away from slavery. Further, the existence of this nation was necessary to mainstream that evolution and give it a permanent platform.
If not for the founders of this nation who you seem to be deeply skeptical of, 2025 would probably be much much much more similar to 1492 than it is now.

For example, how would you have had the founders deal with the existing institution of slavery in the constitution?
I see your point. I do. People have made compelling arguments about this in this thread. I'm not suggesting that I can identify a better (realistic) way of approaching slavery.
It's the sanctimony, though. Or maybe I'm just reading sanctimony into these documents? (touching on your perception vs reality point from earlier)

Greatest country in the world, people risking life for an opportunity to establish a life here, and this is the shite you spew.
Pathetic

Or perhaps they were responding to the tone you put forth in your OP?

Conclusion- Justice has never existed as an inherent right in this country, despite what our founders claimed. Justice has always been a privilege extended to those deemed worthy by prevailing social hierarchies of race, gender, and class.
Did the founders believe their own bullshite?
Did YOU approach this topic through a thoughtful lens? No. You didn't.

quote:You really should read Jefferson's notes, theory, and considered remedies for slavery prior to the 1778 Virginia ban. It speaks to our analysis through presentism of what those men were dealing with.
Good point.
It isn't a particularly positive commentary on Jefferson (whom I generally hold in high regard). For his own political purposes, he ultimately scrapped his remedy for ridding the United States of slavery. But it's very enlightening with regard to contemporary thought and the socioeconomic environment at the time. If you're writing a paper, his thoughts would make for excellent inclusion.

I'm curious about your thoughts pertaining to our economic system now.

I know I stated I wouldn't engage any longer, but that is my primary issue with this poster.
The tone is always this way, then the inevitable attacks from others come in, even down to insulting her as a person, which I said I don't agree with.
So, with that, here is what I will offer as some sound "advice":
Dear Mrs. Cubbies M'am,
Next time you want to start at topic such as this, and you intend to have a solid, good faith "debate", run your idea through CoPilot.
CoPilot is great at taking something like your OP and removing the shitty tone. I have it do this for me at least five times a day at work when I have to reply to someone who I've answered numerous times already or I'm dealing with someone who is very very sensitive.
Either way, it will help you craft a better approach to your topic, and also show the board you are actually open to ideas.
Ok, now I'll ignore you again until you change your tone.

Thanks. The paper isn't actually about slavery, but I'm sure I'd find something useful to cite.

It seems the older I get the more I come to the realization that the Founding Fathers were no different than politicians today - telling you what they think you want to hear while pushing agendas of their puppeteers.
It is what it is and I try to make the best of it. If this is the best the world has to offer, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

She has admitted to using language and phrasing in order to elicit as much attention as she can get. She does it so she can eventually do the "omg you creeps can't stay away from me and it nakes me feel unsafe" bit.

Amazing to me that those that so vehemently abhor even the thought that slavery ever existed, are actually pushing for illegal immigrants to flood their very country to do below living wage work.

Read about the debates that the founders had before the final draft(s) were signed. You may be surprised to learn that 11 of the 13 colonies were opposed to slavery in any form, but Georgia and South Carolina refuse to comply.

Ouch! this is the most offensive thing I've read in this entire thread.
